Koh Samui

Flight time from London - 11hrs, 20 min

Type of honeymoon - food lovers, culture, history, beaches, secluded bays, traditional romance

There are some fantastic areas of Thailand for honeymooners, one of which is Koh Samui. Many describe it as one of the most romantic places in the world. It is a beach honeymoon destination featuring private pool villas. Livelier couples can head on into the hustle and bustle of central Koh Samui in the evenings. This is a more traditional type of honeymoon but with a good mix of culture and nightlife thrown in for good measure.

Thailand is especially good for food lovers, as there are a wide variety of restaurants serving traditional Thai food. This is why many of the resorts don't offer all-inclusive. They would much rather you explore and sample the delicious local restaurants for yourself. Many of the hotels and resorts in Koh Samui are set within secluded bays with seafront villas where you can enjoy your honeymoon in style.

Venice

Venice is a popular destination for honeymooners with its canals, architecture, gondolas, and unspoiled islands all working together to create the ultimate romantic getaway. You can take a romantic stroll across Piazza San Marco where you can really see the enormity of Basilica di San Marco and Palazzo Ducale.

After discovering the sights of the city, escape on a boat and ride to one of the unspoiled islands close by. Of course, a honeymoon in Venice cannot be complete without riding on a gondola through the city's canals. In Venice, the streets are like labyrinths opening out to bustling market squares. There are restaurants and coffee shops where you can sample the delights of Italian coffee and cuisine (especially the fresh seafood) whilst people-watching. Don't forget to have the famous Bellini at Harry's Bar where it was invented. Cheers!

Iceland has fast become the hip destination for those wanting to explore a somewhat quirky country filled with magic, lava fields, ancient glaciers and stunning architecture. Honeymooners wanting to delve into the land of ice and fire can enjoy the romance of the northern lights and the buzz of Reykjavik.

We would recommend renting a car so that you can explore the country your own way and in your own time. Visit the stunning waterfall at Gullfoss Gullfoss, the Blue Lagoon with its geothermal spa and Jokulsarlon, a glacial lagoon where blue waters are dotted with icebergs. There are many boutique-style hotels in the capital, which is a great place to have as a base whilst you explore the surrounding areas. For many honeymooners, their aim is to have a bucket list holiday somewhere they have always wanted to visit and Iceland could definitely be that destination.

For some, the idea of sleeping under the stars in a luxury lodge or tent, going on excursions to see beautiful wild animals and exploring national parks is the idea of the perfect honeymoon and what better country to explore than Botswana.

Botswana is actually the same size as France, almost 40% of its land is dedicated to nature reserves, wildlife and national parks, including the Okavango, the world's second-largest game reserve. There are so many things to see and do, starting with deciding on which of our luxury camp accommodations to choose. Some of our accommodation is set on a private island, next to a lagoon and even on the edge of a fig tree forest.
