The Grootbos Private Nature Reserve is a one of a kind concept comprising of two lodges set in 1700 hectares of pristine fynbos - the Cape's unique natural vegetation. This setting provides the basis for a unique and luxury South African experience which lead it to become Tatlers 'Best Family Hotel 2005/6', and 'One of the Best 101 Hotels in the World 2005/6'. The classic Garden Lodge set in lush indigenous surroundings, is the ideal family getaway close to all the reserves facilities. The new Forest Lodge with its contemporary and modern style appeals to the cosmopolitan traveller. The Grootbos Nature Reserve offers a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and the oppurtunity to relax whilst enjoying conservation and nature.

There are 23 en-suite luxury suites at the Grootbos Reserve. Each suite has a separate bedroom, lounge, airy bathroom and a large wooden deck. The suites offer guests secluded elegance and a chance to unwind, surrounded by the splendours of nature and pampered by all the comforts of home. The suites are all equipped with a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities, fresh fruit basket and fireplace. There are extra-length beds with down duvets, heated blankets and cotton linens. The bathrooms have either a bath/shower or a double shower, double basins and heated towel rails. Set amongst the ancient milkwood trees, the private secluded balconies are the perfect place to admire the sunsets over the ocean.

The Grootbos offers a superb dining experience that draws inspiration from the fresh local produce that surrounds them, and the traditional recipes that have been passed down from generations. The chefs at the lodge conjure up magical combinations that replenish and inspire both the body and soul. Feast on fresh fish caught that day, succulent meats and fresh home grown vegetables which are all enhanced with flavours from the flourishing herb garden. The award winning wines of the cape provide the ideal accompaniment to the delicious gourmet cuisine offered at the lodge. There is also plenty to keep you occupied at the Grootbos whether you want to laze on the beach or take the opportunity to explore the surrounding wildlife. The Reserve offers excursions with expert guides along the coast or through the forest and can arrange whale watching and shark watching trips. Guests can also opt to explore the stunning local environment on a 4x4 vehicle safari or horseback riding. Other facilties at the Reserve include a swimming pool, terrace and sundeck at each lodge, a lobby at each lodge, library, bar, lounge and state of the art conference and business facilties.
