Wedding Requirements

It’s easy to get married in Mauritius however there are several
legal marriage requirements to follow. There is a minimum residency in Mauritius
of 1 day, prior to the wedding day. Weddings are performed by a Registrar at either
a Registry Office or a hotel. The Registrar needs copies of the following documents
6 weeks before the wedding date (can be sent through a tour operator):

• First 3 pages of both parties passports. |

• Copies of Both parties birth certificates
|
|
• If one of the parties has been divorced, a copy of the Decree Absolute. |
|
• If one of the parties is a widow or widower, a copy of the Death Certificate. |
|
• If one of the parties is under 18, parental consent in the form of a sworn affidavit
is required. |

These documents must be provided in English. The original copies of the documents
listed above will be required for the registry office on the wedding day. Wedding
packages at most hotels include all legal processing fees and handling costs, the
registrar’s fee and decoration of the ceremony area. There are additional costs
