Petra holidays are all about discovery, enlightenment and adventure. The entire city is carved into the rock face by Nabataean Arabs with its entrance through a 'Siq' or narrow gorge which is over 1km in length, surrounded by soaring cliffs standing at around 80km tall. Walking along here is a quite breathtaking experience, and as you reach the end of the Siq you'll catch the first glimpse of Al-Khazneh ( the treasury), which is just one of the many wonders of this thrilling destination, which will take around 4 -5 days to fully explore. Petra also features sprawkling valleys, hundreds of rock-cut tombs, a Roman amphitheatre, two huge museums and a shrine. It most certainly is not just a day trip experience! Famously Petra was used for filming Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and its iconic pinky mountain facade represented the entrance to mythical lost city of Alexandretta.
