OverviewMeeru Island resort offers guests a relaxed and casual atmosphere, where the beautiful scenery of the perfect white sands are fringed with tall coconut palms. Much of the island remains undisturbed with 70 acres of lush vegetation intact offering the ideal tropical escape. It is home to one of the biggest dive schools in the country and due to the remote location many of these excellent dives are rarely experienced by others. The island of Meerufenfushi is situated on the north east edge of the North Male Atoll. It is located 50 kilometres from Male International airport therefore away from the rest of the local resorts. Transfer time in a speedboat is approximately one hour.
FacilitiesThe Dhuniye Spa introduces their Over-The-Water Spa which enables guests to enjoy the delightful treatments with iconic views. Here guests will be able to experience what is known as SPA - 'Sanus Per Aqua' ("health through Water"). There is an extensive range of either land or water facilities on offer. These include windsurfing, canoes, a swimming pool, tennis court and table tennis. To add to the experience of the Maldives there are also a number of excursions on offer. The most popular is Island Hopping where guests can travel on a Maldivian Sailing Boat and stops off to gorgeous places such as Bodu Hura, Kuda Bandos and Kani Resort. Meeru is able to offer access to over 40 diving sites, so there is something for both beginners and more professional divers. Many of the sites are exclusive to the resorts diving school meaning that they are relatively undisturbed. There is one restaurant, two coffee shops and three bars where guests can experience variety all day. The emphasis is on casual and relaxed dining which fits in well with local traditions. The Farivalhu Restaurant is the main dining room and has beach-like sand floor which serves “all you can eat” buffet style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Others include The Asian Wok, specializing in Thai, Indian, Chinese and Maldivian cuisine. The Dhoni Bar, located on the beach, beside the pool and The Beach Bar at the southern end of the island.
Guest RoomsAll rooms are designed in a tropical décor and come with all the necessary amenities. These include private patio with furniture, ceiling fan, air conditioning, ensuite bathroom and mini-fridge. The standard rooms face the beach and the cane furniture inspires this minimalist room. The surrounding vegetation only confirms that you are indeed in tropical paradise. Bathrooms are partial open and overlook an indoor garden garden to provide the utmost privacy. All have a separate dressing area with luggage rack, wardrobe and dressing table. The veranda in front of each furnished with deck chairs is ideal for relaxation. Both the land and Jacuzzi villas border the island as they stretch out to magnificent views. The pine chalets with the wide verandas offer comfortable deck chairs. The Jacuzzi villas are slightly larger than the land villas and offer a private walled outdoor area featuring a villa for two and a wooden sundeck. The Water Villas are set on the beach edge with a private veranda facing the sea and leads to an over water sun deck. These carefully stilted rooms provide breathtaking sea views which you are never more than a few steps away from. The Honeymoon Suites offer Meeru’s ultimate hideaway exclusively set in the middle of the lagoon and are only accessible by a small boat. The large French windows lead to the spacious sundeck and the patio directly overlooks the turquoise lagoon.
