OverviewLa Pirogue is set amongst the magnificent west coast of Mauritius, along one of the finest beaches where palm-groves bask in the fragrances of frangipani flowers. With its distinctively romantic and private atmosphere, it offers guests a range of amenities in 35 acres of fragrant tropical gardens as well as a magnificent 1000 square metre pool that merges into the Indian Ocean, overlooked by the bar and pool deck. The architecture of the hotel was closely modelled on a fishing village which gives an authentic and comfortable feel within the natural beauty of the island. La Pirogue is 35 kilometres from Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius and about 50 minutes from Mauritius' National Airport.
RoomsThere are selections of room types to choose from to compliment your stay, such as the Standard Cottage, Superior Cottage or the Royal Suites. All rooms are contained in thatched cottages within lawns and areas of tropical shrubs. All have air conditioning, private bath, telephone, colour TV, mini bar and terrace. The standard cottages are nestled amid colourful splashes of bright flowers and privately open onto gardens and the Indian Ocean. They are grouped in small villages laid out in an arc formation. Each cottage houses either one superior or two standard guest rooms. The two Royal Suites are far more spacious and provide the same luxuries but with added benefits. They are set in their own private garden which opens onto palm-groves and the sea. The terrace offers a privileged upfront view of the magnificent beach and crystal-clear sea.
FacilitiesThe main restaurant at the hotel is called Thatches and showcases world cuisine in an unusual dining experience. It has six themed live-cooking stations where chefs prepare meals in full view of guests. Anything from a stir-fry and fresh-noodles to fresh pizza as well as multitude of desserts to complete the array. Paul et Virginie Restaurant fronts the Indian Ocean and sets a romantic ambience which is so easily found in Mauritius. The restaurant comprises of small thatch-roofed dining pavilions overhanging the infinity pool. At Citronnella's Café guests are able to savour the delights of the Mediterranean with mouth-watering snacks to grand traditional dishes. The Blue Bar is located at the heart of the resort where the main nightlife is seen and everything has a blue feel to it from the blue-granite décor to the contemporary blue cocktails! There is also a pool-side bar and beach service which serve an a la carte menu throughout the day. Guests are invited to make use of the vast stretch of turquoise sea and the barrier reef by participating in a variety of water sports. These include water-skiing, snorkelling, windsurfing, and glass-bottom-boat trips. There are also land sports available such as tennis, volley ball and water polo.
