Mon Plaisir
Very spacious, furnished with mosaic-and-wrought-iron tables and overlooking the swimming-pool and the gardens, Sugar Beach Resort’s main restaurant is an open invitation to pleasurable self-indulgence and the fifth deadly sin. Lunch is casual, but dinner remains true to the best tradition of colonial hospitality, with the Planter’s Round Table hosting several guests.
Open for breakfast from 7.30 to 10.30am every day, and for dinner from 7.00 to 10pm.
Citronella’s Cafe
Facing the sea, between Sugar Beach Resort and La Pirogue, guests can savour the delights of the Mediterranean’s sunny cuisines and their delicate olive-oil preparations in the cordial warmth of Citronella’s dining-room, with its fine wrought-iron tables, or in the shade of the café’s teak terrace.
Paul et Virginie
Rustic, charming and located right by the beach at sister resort La Pirogue, the entirely redesigned à-la carte Paul et Virginie affords a sublime view on the Indian Ocean in the warm and cosy privacy of thatch-topped dining islets beside or overhanging La Pirogue’s superb new infinity pool. At lunchtime, from 12.30 to 3pm everyday, it offers local cuisine and equally exotic preparations of Middle Eastern and Asian inspiration as well as wood-fire-baked pizzas, grills, smoked or steamed dishes, and salads.
In the evening, as from 7.30pm, its offering is more sophisticated, with a focus on seafood – delicacies include crayfish, giant prawns, oysters and scallops – and an emphasis on healthy stir-fries and grills as well as smoked and steamed dishes. Excellent wine list of South African and New World wines.
The Plantation
Overhanging the very large swimming-pool, which surrounds it, the sea-facing Plantation Bar is the heart of the resort.
Open on all sides, convivial and relaxed, with a huge bar-counter, it welcomes adults and children all day until pre-dinner aperitif time. In the evening the magnificent flood-lit pool becomes the focal point for the resort’s floor shows.
Lunch is casual and consists in light snacks, copious salads, wood-fire-baked pizzas, or sandwiches. The resort’s sublime sunsets call for special sundowners: a Planter’s punch, or a Pina colada, or our Sugar Beach cocktail. The choice of spirits and fruit juices is large.
La Rhumerie
Located in the Manor House, La Rhumerie is the focal point of aesthetes and epicureans in quest of the secret of colonial art de vivre.
Sugar Club Bar
For those in need of refreshment after an intense game of tennis or a gym session in the gardens, the Sugar Club Bar, located next to the Sugar Club sports complex, proposes fresh-fruit juices, milk-shakes, carbonated drinks, coffees, teas and cold beers.
Beach / Pool Service
For those wishing to enjoy a casual spot of lunch on the beach, a golf-cart proposes refreshments from 10am to 5pm and a choice of pizzas (Sugar Beach, Country etc.) or excellent Parisian baguette sandwiches (with smoked marlin, tuna, salami or ham) served under guests’ thatch-parasols. At the swimming-pool, an à-la-carte menu is available from 12.30 to 5.30pm
Sports Bar
Located at the tennis courts open from 10:00 until late
