Overview
The newly opened, much anticipated 5 star Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort complex comprises of 3 hotels; the Al Waha, Al Bandar and Al Husn. The complex is located in one of the best locations along the coast, nestled in between a dramatic mountain ridge and the crystal clear blue waters of the Gulf of Oman. The resort boasts over 120 acres of manicured gardens, 3 private beaches, 19 restaurants and bars and an authentic bazaar. The Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort also has the added advantage of being close to the airport and Muscat, the fascinating capital city of Oman. Facilities
The Al Waha is a beautiful hotel which has created a traditional Arabian feel through its opulent, earthy interior decor and luxurious furnishings and fittings. The resort is located along the southeast Arabian Peninsula, famous for its beautiful beaches and fascinating local culture and heritage. Nearby the resort guests can visit traditional markets, ancient forts, majestic Mosques and gold and spice souks. Al Waha has plenty of its own sport and leisure facilities however, including the 500 metre Lazy River complete with floating rings, a fully equipped Health and Fitness Club with a gymnasium and daily classes, a PADI dive centre and scuba diving due to open by the end of July 2006, the Chi Spa with rejuvinating body treatments due to open by the end of September 2006, tennis courts, 6000 sq metres of swimming pools, dolphin and whale watching trips and much more. The Little Turtles kids club has daily activities and play centres and the hotel also provides a babysitting facility. There is shopping mall inside the hotel which caters to daily needs. The Al Waha resort has four great restaurants currently open with many more on the way. Guests can choose from the South American/Argentinean Samba Restaurant, the casual Poolside Bar, the Surf Cafe serving delicious salads, sandwiches and snacks or the Al Waha Lounge. The newly opened Omani Heritage Village is the newest feature of the resort and is the first of its kind. The Village is a place where visitors can explore the local culture, architectural heritage and much more. The village even has its own souq which showcases local artisans and special events. The guest rooms at the Al Waha have been beautifully appointed with attention paid to small details and plenty of amenities to ensure total comfort. All rooms are sea facing and feature a private balcony or patio.
