Hotel Details

The Tanjong Jara Resort sits facing the South China Sea and boasts a beautiful shoreline. The resort was exclusively inspired by the indigenous 'istanas', which were elegant, wooden palaces and home to 17th Century Malay Sultans. It blends elegantly with the scenery and it is obvious why it was presented with the Aga Khan Award for Architecture, the experience is of true Malay. The only thing more wonderful than the design of the hotel is the natural beauty of the location, ranging from pristine beaches to exotic jungle wildlife. It can be found to sit between the Southern Kuantan and the Northern Kuala Terrenganu Airports (marginally closer to Kuala Terrenganu). For those wishing to explore further afield, the bustling resort off Kuala Lumpur is a rewarding 6 hour car journey away or a short flight away.

All rooms are designed with only the best local materials and combine intricate designs with rich timbers and fabrics. Guests are invited to take in the breathtaking views from their balconies or terraces, either of the deep azure waters or the lush gardens of the resort. Room facilities on offer include:

There are a number of dining options available at the Tanjong Jara Resort, and all only offer the highest quality food cooked by specially trained chefs. For those wishing to dine in a romantic, intimate atmosphere then try the Di Atas Sungei Restaurant, which literally translates to “above the river”, reflecting where this is located. It has the unusual twist of having no printed menu, instead a menu master lets you know their recommendations and gives you a personalised menu. Nelayan, translates to “Fisherman” and therefore offers the best seafood in a relaxed atmosphere. The resort’s own fisherman brings in his catch of the day for dinner which is highly recommended. Otherwise guests staying in either the Anjung or Serambi rooms can enjoy a private BBQ dinner on their doorstep which is served by the butler. For an award-wining experience then the Tanjong Club Spa should not be missed. It is home to a fully equipped gymnasium as well as a therapy centre offering the highest quality of treatments with dedicated professional staff. All Spa treatments are based upon traditional Malay healing treatments which have been passed down throughout the generations. There are two swimming pools for guests to relax by. Each one has its own towels and deckchairs as well as a pool deck bar to escape from the heat of the midday sun. There is a wide range of facilities available at the resort; this includes two tennis courts, a library, gift shop and a boutique.
