Overview

Bali is a natural paradise, with a coastline of sandy beaches and an inland canvas of iconic rice fields and rainforest clad mountain peaks. Multi-tiered temples dot the land and open zoos offer safari experiences, with exotic animals like elephants, lions and monkeys. Luxury Bali holidays offer plenty of excitement, with indulgent spas, watersports like sailing, and Balinese cookery classes.

As well as being renowned for its distinct landscape, the Indonesian island of Bali is equally revered for its welcoming culture and divine cuisine. In the foothills of rice paddies and steep ravines, Ubud showcases the best of both, with lots of restaurants, museums, art galleries and historic temples. In many ways the cultural centre of Bali, Ubud offers a wealth of attractions, like the iconic Ubud Palace, the Blanco Renaissance Museum, and the aptly-named Monkey Forest.

In Uluwatu, you'll find famous waves that draw surfers of all levels from far and wide. Renowned as one of the best-surfing destinations in the world, Uluwatu features a coastline filled with golden beaches. Wander the sands, surf the sea and explore museums, pagodas and magical attractions like the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park. Be sure to visit Uluwatu Temple during your luxury holiday to Bali; perched on a clifftop, with lots of monkeys, this shrine hosts lively Kecak dance performances.

Just north of Uluwatu, Seminyak is home to exclusive resorts and some of the finest beaches, with coral-rich waters perfect for snorkelling and scuba diving. The region is renowned for its fine dining, designer stores and upmarket boutiques, making it one of the top luxury travel destinations to explore. It's also a short drive from the capital, Denpasar, a laid-back city with amazing architecture. Discover ancient temples, informative museums and interactive zoos.

When To Visit

To make the most of your luxury Bali holiday be sure to go at the perfect time of year. The tropical climate means the island is warm all year round, with temperatures lingering around 30 degrees Celsius. The island experiences two main seasons: the dry season, from May to September, and the rainy season, from October to April.

Despite its name, the rainy season rarely sees excessive rainfall, and the sun shines throughout. Regardless of what time of year you plan your Bali holidays, you’re pretty much-guaranteed sunshine (and the amazing vistas which come with it).

Food & Drink

Your luxury hotel will inevitably cater to a wide range of tastes with expertly prepared dishes. Try a la carte menus serving international favourites from regions like the Mediterranean and the Far East, or sample traditional Indonesian specialities cooked to perfection, with dishes like bebek betutu, a Balinese roast duck.

Luxury Bali holidays give you the chance to enjoy signature experiences, where chefs handpick dishes to create menus tailored to your personal tastes and preferences. Try traditional Balinese sharing menus and gourmet wood-oven baked pizzas while you unwind with a glass of wine or champagne, watching a dramatic Bali sunset.

Passport & Visas

As with any holiday, it's a good idea to carry some identification with you at all times and to keep a photocopy of your passport. For visits up to 30 days, you don't need a visa to enter Indonesia. Visit GOV.UK for more advice on passports, visas and travel before you depart on your holiday to Bali.
