Luxury Niagara on the Lake Holidays

Overview

Perfectly placed on the shores of Lake Ontario, Niagara-on-the-Lake is a flower-filled town that’s best known for its wonderful wineries. Tour the abundant vineyards, be charmed by the historic old town and enjoy amazing views of Canada’s most famous lake on luxury holidays in Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Experience the heritage of Niagara-on-the-Lake by planning a stroll down the impressive Queen-Picton Street, the centre of town, and celebrated for its colourful and historic clapboard houses. Amble along this stretch and you'll see elegant shops, with hand-painted hanging signs, and upscale restaurants with sun-splashed terraces. Beyond the high street, there are lots of historical highlights to soak up, from the painstakingly restored Apothecary Museum to the charming McFarland House Conservatory Tea Room, where you’ll find a true flavour of Georgian style and charm.

However, no visit to Niagara-on-the-Lake would be complete without a tour of some of its excellent wineries. Vaunted as one of Canada's premier wine-growing regions, you'll find gourmet food with excellent wine pairings at the award-winning Peller Estates, or stellar views and bold reds at the peaceful oasis that is the Coyote’s Run Estate Winery.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is also home to a great selection of golf courses. Relax with a few rounds at the fragrant Peach Trees club or head along to Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Club. The latter is the oldest club in North America, and has a panoramic outlook onto Lake Ontario - on clear days you can even see the Toronto skyline. Then, before you leave, go to the magnificent Niagara Falls, and see one of North America's most stunning natural attractions.

When To Visit

Warm and sunny weather is at its peak in July and August, with average highs of around 26°C, but warm and balmy weather can be found from May until mid September - ideal if you’re planning to indulge in plenty of sunbathing and water sports.

Head along during autumn to see local wineries in full swing during their harvest time, and to see the gorgeous reds of the maple tree leaves. Temperatures drop below freezing in the depth of winter, which turns the town into a winter wonderland.

Food & Drink

Famous for its vineyards, it comes as no surprise that Niagara-on-the-Lake has got a great reputation for its restaurants too. After all, great wine and delicious dishes go hand in hand. Many of the wineries have their own, on-site award-winning restaurants where you can enjoy the perfect pairings between glass and dish.

Dine under a stained glass ceiling in the elegant Tiara Restaurant for wonderful views of the harbour, or head of the bistros and restaurants in the old town. Don’t leave without biting into a sweet, cinnamon BeaverTail pastry.
