In the 1890s, coal baron and Scottish immigrant, Robert Dunsmuir, built this remarkable castle. Dominating over Victoria, Craigdarroch Castle serves as testimony to Robert Dunsmuir's wealth. Today, the building is recognised as a National Historic Site of Canada. Admire the Victorian architecture and check out the exquisite stained glass windows and intricate woodwork that define the era's style.

Butchart Gardens
Covering over 55 acres, Butchart Gardens are Vancouver Island’s top attraction and they’re a National Historic Site of Canada. Here, you’ll find 900 bedding plant varieties and different activities for each season. In summer, you can catch firework shows every Saturday, live music every night, and explore the Tod Inlet on a boat tour.

Whale Watching
The waters near Vancouver Island are one of the best places in the world to see orca whales. Between May and October, thousands of orca whales migrate through this region and a pod of 100 live there year-round. Many tour companies on Vancouver Island run whale-watching trips. You may also see dolphins, sea lions, and otters.
