Home to unspoiled beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see, Turks and Caicos is the jewel in the crown of the Atlantic. Nestled in the great ocean by a 14-mile barrier reef, and adjacent to the warm waters of the Caribbean, these islands epitomise paradise. Only 12 of the 40 islands are inhabited, which makes Turks and Caicos ideal for a little island hopping. The two main islands of this archipelago are the Turks island known as Grand Turk and the Caicos counterpart called Providenciales, or Provo locally. In Grand Turk, you'll find the colourful capital, Cockburn Town, and the Turks and Caicos National Museum, a wonderful institution that explores the culture and history of the islands. Of course, you'll also find plenty of pristine beaches to choose from. In Providenciales, walk the legendary soft sands of the world-renowned Grace Bay Beach and discover secluded bays, like the ever-stretching Long Bay Beach and the gems of Turtle Cove. Shop at boutique stores, purchase local crafts, and duck into the wonderful art gallery at Salt Mills Plaza. Above the waves you can enjoy sailing, or windsurfing, and below them snorkelling or diving. The waters here are home to a diversity of marine life, and exploring the underwater world of Turks and Caicos is incredibly rewarding.
