Luxury Eastern Cape Safari Holidays

Overview

Imagine a classic African safari, and chances when you're picturing the Eastern Cape. With a wildly diverse landscape, the Eastern Cape features quaint villages scattered between wide plains, soaring mountains, lush rainforests, rugged coastlines, and hidden beaches. Choose from a range of safaris to suit you on your unforgettable luxury holiday in the Eastern Cape.

One of the Eastern Cape's biggest draws is the chance to experience a breathtaking safari. The verdant grasslands of the eastern regions provide ample grazing lands and hunting grounds for some of the continent’s most famous animals, including the big five – elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino, and leopard. Unbound by cages, the animal encounters here can be truly transformative.

Beyond the national reserves and game parks, you’ll find that the Eastern Cape has an abundance of arresting and diverse landscapes, including the semi-arid Karoo, the mountainous ranges of Drakensberg and Sneeuberge, and the emerald rainforests of Tsitsikamma. Combined with traditional villages and genuine South African hospitality, a luxury holiday to the Eastern Cape can afford you the opportunity to really get to know the wilderness of South Africa with the reassuring guidance of trained professionals.

If you want to relax by the coast, the beaches of East London promise warm waters and soft golden sands, and the city itself is home to excellent galleries, museums, and a vibrant dining scene. If you’re looking for world-class surf, then stop by Jeffreys Bay, south of Port Elizabeth, and ride the waves from May to September.

When To Visit

South Africa's Eastern Cape boasts pleasant weather year round, ranging from comfortable, dry weather in the winter, to warm temperatures in the summertime. For safari trips, winter is the most popular time to visit, as animals are easier to spot as they gather by the waterholes during this period.

The weather rarely falls into extremes of heat or cold, with snow and rain being extremely rare. At its hottest, in February, January and March, temperatures sit around 30 degrees, perfect if you plan to hit the beach.

Food & Drink

Delicious African-inspired dishes are served at our resorts, allowing you to sample all the best that the Eastern Cape has to offer. South African cuisine comes from a diverse range of cultures, so you'll see that Indonesian, Indian, and Portuguese influences make mealtimes an exploration event as well.

Of course, you must sample the classic safari sundowner cocktail to make your holiday experience authentic. Picture catered barbeques under the stars, or a frosted gin and tonic in hand while you watch the sun set, and you're part-way there.

Passport & Visas

It's always going to be a good idea to carry identification at all times, ideally a photocopy of your passport. British citizens won't require a visa for holidays under 90 days. Go to GOV.UK for more information on passports and travel.
