One of the seven United Arab Emirates, Fujairah is a place that promises you luxury and a little Arabian magic. In the city of Fujairah, you'll find a blend of futuristic skyscrapers and ancient fortresses, like Al Hayl Castle, Bithna Fort and Fujairah Castle. Wander traditional souks selling jewellery and pottery, and discover ultra-modern shopping malls such as the City Centre Fujairah, with its exclusive designer stores. Then journey to the past at the Fujairah Museum and learn more about the history of the region.
Immerse yourself in the local culture and visit the historic Al Bidya Mosque. At the Grand Sheikh Zayed Mosque, one of the largest in the UAE, admire breathtaking architecture with whitewashed walls, ornate domes and piercing minarets. It's not open to tourists as it's a place of prayer and worship, but the exterior alone is a sight well worth seeing.
A short drive north of Fujairah city, and you'll come to Dibba Al Fujairah, the largest northern town in the emirate. It's nestled below mountains with green valleys and fields. The town's renowned for its immaculate beaches and crystalline waters teeming with fish. Needless to say, it's a very popular place for fishing. The area was once a commercial centre frequented by the Phoenicians and it's home to lots of ancient historical sites and tombs.
Fujairah has great weather throughout the year. From May to August, temperatures can reach the 40 degree Celsius mark, but air-con is universal and spectacular pools abound. However, if you prefer a cooler climate, travel outside of these months for highs in the 30s.
November to April is a popular time visiting Fujairah as the temperature ranges from 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. January to March is the best time to spot whale sharks as they migrate from the southern bay of Oman.
Please note Ramadan 2020 is 23rd April to 23rd May approximately.
