Stowe

Topnotch Resort

Official Rating

‘Activity-Rich Excellence In The Heart Of The Mountains’

Set within 120 acres of woodland at the foot of Mount Mansfield in the heart of Stowe, Topnotch Resort offers a myriad of activities including the Tennis Academy with its four indoor and six outdoor courts, equestrian trails and full access to the golf course at the Country Club of Vermont. Its restaurants incorporate locally grown ingredients into meals while the cosy rooms and suites are reminiscent of a European country manor. There are also 2 and 3 bedroom Resort Homes and relaxation in the form of a 35,000 square foot spa, indoor pool and two outdoor pools. Topnotch Resort provides a four-season retreat with skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, fishing, canoeing, swimming, biking, paddle boarding, golfing, and more all nearby. A variety of shopping, dining and nightlife can be found throughout Stowe while the vibrant art and culture scene includes numerous galleries with work by local and regional artists.

In Our Opinion

‘Stowe Performing Arts Center and Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center offer music concerts throughout the year so it’s well worth catching one while you’re here.’

Flannel
Similar to the ambiance of the hotel, Flannel is a blend of comfort and contemporary, set in a spacious dining room complemented by what is often regarded as the best views of Mt. Mansfield in all of Stowe. Flannel is brought to life by Executive Chef Cortney Quinn with a seasonally inspired menu of inventive dishes that pay homage to Vermont with fresh and local ingredients.  Signature items include Misty Knoll Chicken with sweet pea spaetzle, baby brussel sprouts, sausage and Cold Hollow Cider sauce; New England Dayboat Scallops with stewy butter beans, garlic rapini and spicy squash broth; and the Flannel Burger topped with crispy pork belly, farm egg, Vermont cheddar and Heady Topper glazed onions.
The Roost
Taking its name from Topnotch’s spectacular location, The Roost offers the ideal setting for social gatherings and communal dining. Focusing on small plates, nibbles and shareable bites, The Roost’s menu puts a creative twist on pub cuisine that is complemented by local Vermont craft beers and small batch spirit cocktails. As with Flannel, The Roost features both indoor and outdoor seating in the warmer months. Inside, guests are invited to lounge near the fireplace or gather around the custom-designed and built Vermont craftsman shuffleboard table. The 70-seat outdoor patio includes a free-standing pergola crafted from a stone wall retained from the former Topnotch lobby, with outdoor couches, a fire pit, Bocce Ball, and breath-taking views. Menu highlights include The Nest, fries with BBQ braised short rib, cheese curds and spring onions; New England meat and cheese platters; Roost Wings available in original spice, maple BBQ, or stupid hot; Beer and Cheddar Soup with smoked cobb bacon and jalapeño chips; and the VTBLT with cobb smoked bacon, grilled tomato, baby arugula and maple mayo.
