Hotel Katajanokka

Official Rating

‘Converted Prison, Katajanokka Island’

Hotel Katajanokka is in a converted prison dating back to 1837 and is on an island of the same name in the centre of Helsinki. Restaurant Linnakellari is in the basement of the jail and serves Finno-Scandinavian local and organic meals and uses a charcoal grill. The modern gym on-site is open 24/7 and there is free sauna access every weekend morning. There is a tram stop located right outside the hotel for easy access to the centre in under ten minutes.

In Our Opinion

‘Our favourite part about this hotel, aside from it being a converted prison is the amazing food served at the restaurant, it is worth booking a stay here for that culinary experience alone!’
