‘Peaceful Riverside Camp’
Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp lies among tall evergreen trees on a by-water of the Grumeti River, in the western-reaches of the Serengeti National Park. Overlooking a tranquil lagoon, the camp is home to frequent sightings of hippo who are regular visitors to the camp, as well as colobus monkeys who can be found nowhere else in the Serengeti. The camp is placed in an excellent location for viewing the Great Migration of wildebeest, especially the spectacular river crossings; when the Great Migration is not nearby, you will be able to enjoy un-interrupted game viewing in the morning and afternoon. Other activities available include a full-day trip to Lake Victoria or a hot-air ballooning experience above the Serengeti, whilst back at the camp you can dip in the pool and watch the hippo from there. Guest areas at the camp include open-fronted sitting areas and a domed bar; dining takes place on an extensive deck overlooking the river and meals are prepared in an African boma with open-fires. Tents feature a private deck with river views and include one accommodation tailored to families.
In Our Opinion‘At Grumeti Serengeti Tented Camp you don't even have to leave your tent to observe the surrounding wildlife. Families are welcome.'
Two tents share an enclosed entrance lobby and are connected by a wooden canvas walkway. The entrance lobby offers easy access between the tents whilst also maintaining privacy.
Rustic yet sophisticated tents are designed with hues of grey and enhanced by local sculptured furnishings. Comfortable chairs sit at the foot of the bed, whilst steps further you can reach the private deck through sliding doors and admire views across the Grumeti River.
Guests can take part in morning and afternoon game drives, hot-air ballooning experiences and day trips to Lake Victoria.
The camp’s location beside the river makes it ideal for sightings of dramatic river crossings when the Great Migration is in the area. Even when the Great Migration is not nearby you will be able to view spectacular wildlife and enjoy a more un-interrupted experience due to the lack of other vehicles. The Grumeti River provides a permanent water source and attracts large herds of buffalo and elephant, amongst other animals. The thickets near the camp are also home to the colobus monkeys, which cannot be seen anywhere else in the Serengeti.
