‘Uninterrupted Game Viewing’

The only permanent camp in a remote area of southern-central Serengeti National Park, Sanctuary Kusini provides excellent game viewing. Due to its secluded setting, abundant wildlife can be discovered without disruption. Early morning, late afternoon and full day game drives are led by expert guides in customised vehicles, whilst hot-air balloon safaris fly over the plains and unveil the annual migration from above. Through the Serengeti Cheetah Project you can assist in monitoring the park’s cheetahs by identifying, photographing and recording the behaviour of these fascinating animals; with the Spa’s range of treatments you can unwind afterwards. Shared areas include a cosy lounge, library and dining area where three course meals can be enjoyed. Twelve open-plan tents are stilted around a cluster of kopjes under the shade of acacia trees.

In Our Opinion

‘A high level of luxury can be found at this camp which resides in the path of the great annual migration.’

Shaded Area
A continental breakfast and full English is served in the shared area before morning game viewing. When guests return they can enjoy a three course meal for lunch and dinner.
Bush Picnics
Guides will take guests out into the bush and find a shady spot where they can enjoy a picnic basket filled with hot or cold meals.
Cocktails & Canapes
After a day in the bush, guests can climb to the top of the main kopje and savour cocktails and canapés amidst a magnificent sunset view.

Services:
• Lounge & library
• Complimentary internet access in main areas

Spa

Overlooking the kopje, the Spa offers the perfect place to unwind after a day of game viewing. Treatments include a deep tissue massage, healing holistic massage and the signature Duluti Coffee Scrub – combining ground coffee with essential oils to provide exfoliation.

Guests at Sanctuary Kusini can enjoy game drives, cosmic safaris and hot-air balloon safaris.

Game drives

Led by highly qualified guides, game drives are carried out in customised open 4x4 vehicles and can be enjoyed either in the early morning, late afternoon or as a full day. Due to no other camps being in close proximity to Sanctuary Kusini, guests can experience unobstructed game viewing; including the annual great migration which takes place between January and March.

Hot-air balloon safaris

A unique way to witness the annual migration, hot-air balloon safaris can take up to 16 people each time and come with a champagne and special bush breakfast.

Cosmic safaris

After dinner in the evening, guests can relax on comfortable cushions atop the main kopje or around a campfire as they enjoy magnificent stargazing.

Serengeti Cheetah Project

The treeless plains of the park offer the perfect habitat for cheetahs who have made one particular area their permanent home. With the Serengeti Cheetah Project, guests can assist in monitoring the park’s cheetah through the help of expert guides who will demonstrate how to identify, photograph and record the behaviour of cheetahs. This information may then contribute to uncovering new movement patterns and aid the development of conservation programmes.
