It’s shaped like a mango. It’s fringed with soft sandy beaches. It’s waters are clear and warm. It’s rainforest is so fun to explore. It’s got something for everyone. There’s five reasons already. Need more? We’re happy to oblige...

The Nature

27 miles long and 14 miles wide, the island is fronted by white sandy beaches and covered by dense rainforest. Lofty mountains are joined by deep valleys, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Piton Mountains rise out of the sea.

There’s so much to explore, and so many ways to explore it. From trekking through the rainforest, to speeding over it on a zip-line, to climbing on top of a piton. You can even drive in to a volcano.

The Culture

While St. Lucia stands out for its nature, a big part of the island’s charm lies with its culture and heritage. There’s a lovely blend of Amerindian, African, French and English influences which can be seen in the cuisine and language – both of which are Creole.

The locals are friendly and the nightlife is lively. Rodney Bay is filled with cool beach bars and restaurants, while Yes Gros Islet is the place to be on Friday evenings. It hosts street parties fuelled by Caribbean music, barbecues and spiced rum. What a combination.

The Romance

Romance just comes naturally to the island. With scenery like that, it’s inevitable. Then you need to take into account the resorts. Some come with private plunge pools and views of the Piton Mountains. Special packages for newlyweds often include things like champagne breakfasts, massages for two and candlelit dinners on the beach.

If you needed any further evidence, St Lucia has won the title of World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination eight times at the World Travel Awards.

The Beaches

The beaches simply deserve their own section. Under ancient French Law, they are all part of the Queen’s Chain, meaning that they are public. Everyone is free to bask in their beauty. Whether you prefer quiet beaches backed by jungle, or ones lined with bars, your covered.

The colour of sand ranges from golden in the north to silver and black in the volcanic west. On the more sheltered west coast, the sands are lapped by the gentle Caribbean Sea. While on the east they are pounded by the Atlantic breaks. Perfect for surfing.

The Accommodation

Whether visiting as a family, friends or couple, you’ll find somewhere perfect for you here. There’s everything from cottages on plantations to mountaintop resorts and couple’s only retreats. Wherever you stay, nature is present. Don’t be surprised if a friendly hummingbird joins you at an al fresco breakfast.

With all this and more, St Lucia is a great choice for your next getaway.
