Dubai gives most of us an urge to rub our eyes or pinch ourselves on a regular basis. "Unreal" is one of the most commonly used adjectives, both by our customers and our travel-happy team. But if the emirate still inspires this kind of awe after more than a decade of pushing luxury to its limits, it’s impossible to imagine what the next ten years will bring.
The Arabian Desert is well-known for producing mirages, with countless tribal tales of the sun’s heat deceiving weary Bedouin eyes. But among these temporary illusions, between the Middle East’s vast, sweeping dunes, there’s one mirage that shouldn’t be dismissed.
In fact, we aren’t just talking about one mirage but three. Presiding over Dubai’s iconic Palm Jumeirah, One&Only Royal Mirage offers up a holy trinity of luxury addresses to accommodate and exceed your expectations in the emirate of excess. Whether you’re a first time visitor to Dubai, or a seasoned veteran, these three properties deliver the hedonism behind the hype we all hear. If we’re talking in terms of style and substance, here, One&Only have more than satisfied both. So, when our team was offered the chance to experience it for themselves first-hand this December, it felt like Christmas had come early.
Our Operations Executive, Laura, and Personal Travel Consultants, Ben and Lauren, recently packed their bags to find out what this hallmark of hospitality is all about. Staying in Royal Mirage’s Arabian Court, our team members were accommodated in Deluxe Rooms decorated with traditional Emirati flair. One of their favourite features were the furnished balconies, which provided heady uplifting garden views by day, as well as a great place to unwind at night. Arabian Court is the more traditional and budget-friendly of Royal Mirage’s three properties, but guests staying here benefit from the facilities at The Palace too.
The Palace is One&Only’s slightly more upmarket address, and while Royal Mirage’s boasts pools, tennis courts, a putting green and a range of hi-octane water sports on its private beach, the emphasis here is very much on relaxation as you take advantage of impeccably attentive levels of service. Dining was a particular favourite for our lucky team members. Ben was especially impressed with the Beach Bar and Grill at The Palace. Their mouth-watering menu of mostly meat and seafood oriented dishes would be enough to tempt most foodies on its own, but its setting adds a whole new element to your experience. Dining right on the beach, the incandescent city skyline illuminates the night sky behind you as The Palm stretches out into the waters of the Arabian Gulf. What more could we ask for?
Royal Mirage’s Residence and Spa is the resort’s most exclusive property, which naturally makes it quieter than its two counterparts. Guests here have access to facilities and dining establishments across all three addresses, but use of The Residence’s bells and whistles is extended only to its guests. Within mere minutes of Dubai’s biggest attractions, all three Royal Mirage hotels are perfectly placed to help you explore one of the world’s fastest growing cities, but with so much to see, soak up and enjoy in-resort, you’d be forgiven for forgetting to step outside.
There isn’t much we can put into words to accurately convey the sense of satisfaction that staying here adds to an already rich and fulfilling destination. If a picture says a thousand words, then experiencing the real thing for yourself is undoubtedly worth a million times more. We don’t have the time to write a billion words, and you don’t have time to read them, but One&Only’s Royal Mirage is definitely one place in Dubai that our customers would do well to make time for.
