The Cayman Islands serve a wide variety of traditional culinary delights, from fried fish, to fresh seafood and meat patties. The island itself also has gourmet restaurants, modern innovative bars and cafes where you can enjoy international cuisine such as Indian, French, Mexican and US dishes. The food here was fresh and delicious, with lots of healthy choices on offer. A culinary delight from start to finish.
Anchor & Den - The Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort
Anchor & Den serves a variety of different foods. Depending on the day, you can enjoy either a fresh juice bar, Sunday brunch, sushi, creperie and gelato.
We had delicious (and STRONG) cocktails with light bites including meats, cheese, olives, nachos and the tastiest guacamole. This is open early in the morning, until late in the evening and welcomes both hotel guests and the public.
The Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa - Seven Mile Beach
Most of the luxury hotels on the island offer a buffet breakfast, usually including an omelette station and hot and cold food. You can also order a meal if you don't want to check out the buffet.
One of the most delicious buffet breakfasts on the island (probably on par with The Ritz) was at The Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa which includes an omelette station, a selection of delicious pastries, and healthy alternatives such as yoghurt and granola and fruit. There is also a free coffee station in the lounge area and it was the best coffee we had on the island. Breakfast is served from 07:00 - 11 each morning and is open to guests only.
The Waterfront Urban Diner - The Crescent, Camana Bay
The Waterfront Restaurant offers a great view of the sea and serves a variety of modern light dishes including burgers, sandwiches and wraps. I would highly recommend the fresh watermelon juice and fish tacos made with seared fish, escovich, lettuce, tomato salsa and coleslaw. Next door there is a gelato cafe which is also HIGHLY recommended if you have any room left. Open 08:00 to 22:00 daily.
Kaibo Beach Bar - Rum Point
Situated on the beach at Rum Point, the Kaibo Beach Bar serves a variety of tasty modern dishes, our favourite being the Poutine Fries - which are 'Kaibo fries' smothered in beef gravy, mozzarella and cheddar.
Some other highlights include the grilled shrimp with watermelon and feta salad, the spicy chicken glazed bites with ginger, soy and sesame seeds and, of course, the Cayman fish and chips, light, fresh and simply delicious. The bar is open from early until late and you can eat on the second level of the restaurant for a fine dining experience.
Sunday Brunch at Agua - Galleria Plaza, W Bay Road
We would recommend coming here for a different kind of Sunday brunch that will most definitely involve cocktails, some kind of egg dish and seafood! Choose from the huge buffet selection for starters with sushi, seafood and chicken. After your delicious starter, you can choose from the brunch menu which includes a variety of dishes such as lobster risotto and seafood casserole.
Below is Beef Wellington with roasted beef tenderloin, mushrooms and spinach wrapped in puff pastry and served with a red wine demi. Cocktails include 'sparkles and berries' - a mixed berry ice cube topped with Abuelo 7yo rum and prosecco. Open - 11:30 - 01:00. Cheers!
Blue Cilantro - Fidelity Financial Centre, 1 Gecko Link
Blue Cilantro comes highly recommend if you enjoy fine dining - a restaurant where east meets west along with a huge collection of wines. Below are the best spring rolls we have ever tasted, with baby spinach, mushroom, goats' cheese, corn and plum sauce. Another delicious treat for the palette was the ravioli with lobster, Boursin cheese, truffle oil and pumpkin chorizo sauce. Open 11.30 - 23:00.
Tranquillity Cove Luxury Villa - Grand Cayman
This three-course meal was cooked fresh for us by Chef Vincent and included a Caesar salad with anchovies and chicken, a club sandwich with lobster and frozen cookie dough dessert. Chef Vincent is an executive, award-winning chef who can be hired as part of the in-villa dining service at Luxury Cayman Villas.
