If lying on a lounger by the pool, or shopping ‘til you are dropping are not your idea of a perfect holiday, then Dubai could be the destination for you.

Water Sports

Feeling adventurous? Try flyboarding, a cross between wakeboarding and kite surfing. Water jets propel you into the sky to enjoy the view as you reach speeds of 40kmph and dizzying heights of 10 meters. Try jet skiing, kayaking and surfing and, for the more sedate, paddle boarding – a ten-minute tutorial is all beginners need to get out on the water.

Scuba diving is another exhilarating water activity. Book lessons if you have never tried diving before, or enjoy wreck and wall dives if PADI qualified. Swim with marine animals and see the blue planet from below its surface. If Scuba is not for you then snorkel or Aquatrek (walk under water) at The Lost Chambers, Atlantis, The Palm. You can guarantee a marine animal encounter as 65,000 creatures accompany underwater explorers of the ‘Ancient Ruins of Atlantis’ in the Ambassador Lagoon, the largest open air aquarium in the Middle East and Africa.

Dune Buggies

Less than 30-minutes’ drive from the city is Dubai’s dunes. Enjoy Sandboarding, like snowboarding, but with more casual attire. If you're feeling brave, Al Hamer, Dubai’s tallest sand dune, offers 100m of adrenaline-fuelled fun for the adventurous. Experience off-road 4x4 Dune Bashing with an experienced driver or take to the wheel of a Sand Buggy. For a relaxing finish eat and sleep under the starry Arabian night sky on a Bedouin camp out.

Snow Sports

Nothing is beyond possible in Dubai! Trade sand for 22,500 sqm of snow and enjoy the rush of skiing on 5 ski runs, snowboarding and tobogganing at The Mall of Emirates, Ski Dubai. Take lessons, improve your skills or enjoy the jumps and rails.

Feel the thrill of the Snow Bullet - the longest indoor sub-zero zip line.

Falconry

The majestic national emblem of Dubai is the falcon and you can journey into the world of falconry. Watch experts demonstrate the flight and beauty of these birds of prey, then receive professional instruction and you too can handle, feed and fly falcons, owls, hawks and eagles.

Family Fun

For family fun, Aquaventure Waterpark offers adrenaline pumping exhilaration on the interconnecting waterways of the ‘Torrent River,’ ‘The Rapids’ and the mysterious ‘Tower of Neptune.’ Grab an inner tube and enjoy some splish and splash in the desert sun.

Horse Riding

Dubai loves its horses and horse lovers will adore Dubai. Take a course in stable management, learn the art of dressage, ride out into the dessert to enjoy the sunrise and sunset or even learn to play polo, the world’s oldest and fastest team sport. At the Jebel Ali Beach Hotel they offer a magical opportunity to experience horse riding and tuition is available whatever your level. The stables are open from 7am – 12am and 3pm – 6pm.

Try one of these exciting experiences in Dubai alongside your shopping and dropping. Or forget the shopping and do them all. Have fun!
