Finding an all-encompassing kids’ club for your family holiday doesn’t mean you should have to skip on the luxury. Island resorts are aren’t just for adults and the Maldives is world renowned for its incredible array of 5* hotels. Here are our favourite child friendly hotels from the jewel of the Indian Ocean.
Jumeirah Vittaveli – Kuda-Koli Kids’ Club
As a rule, Jumeirah hotels aren’t familiar with half measures. And Jumeirah Vittaveli is no different. Not only is the resort nestled on its own beautiful island in Bolifushi, surrounded by a gorgeous house reef, it’s also a dream for kids. Welcomed by an in-room gift, it won’t be long before adventurous treasure trails have your little ones racing across the powdery white sands without a care in the world. The Kuda-Koli Kids’ Club is open daily, inviting children up to the ages of 12 into its vivacious world of cooking classes, face painting and fun games. Activities are tailored to specific ages, promising a new and engaging adventure each day. There are teen-tailored facilities and activities too, including the very popular house reef snorkelling. The staff are extremely attentive, so if you don’t want your child playing too many video games, they’ll measure that time and turn their energy towards football, water polo or boules and, if your child is under the age of 3, a dedicated member of staff can be assigned to look after them. The free Samsara Restaurant menu is another fantastic touch, allowing you to order a meal to be delivered to the kids’ club in the evening, so your child can eat, play or watch a film, while you enjoy a romantic dinner.
Per Aquum Niyama – Explorers Children’s Club
Comprehensive is a rather inadequate word to use when describing the incredible, encyclopaedic facilities at Per Aquum Niyama. Built in 2015, the Explorers Children’s Club invites kids from the age of 12 months to 12 years to join in the fun, splitting them into four different age groups named Globetrotters, Adventurers, Voyagers and Pioneers. It has a high carer-to-child ratio and each group has its own individually tailored activity programme, from themed treasure hunts and snorkelling expeditions, to master-chef classes and football skill games. The Explorers Children’s Club is the only club in the Maldives to cater specifically to little ones under the age of three, with an excellent babysitting service and special sleeping room for siestas. Afternoon or full day sessions are innovative and immersive, encompassing daring challenges on the climbing wall and water sports for older children. As if this wasn’t enough, parents don’t need to worry about the finer details with snacks provided at the club, along with essentials such as nappies during club hours.
One &Only Reethi Rah – OneTribe & Teens’ Club
The lure of refined romance is strong at One&Only Reethi Rah. The large island in the North Male Atoll is graced by a collection of stunning villas that offer direct lagoon access, however, families are also welcome with an excellently curated children’s club offering plenty to do. Teenagers too cool to hang with mum and dad will find a little haven at an age appropriate club that is equipped with billiards, table tennis and a foosball table; it also operates many outdoor adventures – perfect! OneTribe is designed for younger guests, encouraging little ones to play constructively throughout the day with fun projects, art classes, outdoor fun and exhilarating pool games.
LUX South Ari Atoll – PLAY & Studio 17
Mischievous, energised and, most of all, fun-loving, all children want to do is enjoy themselves. LUX South Ari Atoll on the island of Dhidhoofinolhu and its perfectly titled children’s club, PLAY, is the ideal antidote to restless feet. Painting, calligraphy, dancing, palm weaving, yoga classes and discos are just some of the addictive activities kids can take part in, as well as having lunch there with their new friends. LUX South Ari Atoll also operates one of the best teen clubs in the Maldives with a wealth of things to do both indoor and outdoor. When leaving, your child will receive a scrapbook of all the artwork they have put together and pictures of their days out, so they don’t forget the fun they had – not that we think that will be an issue!
Constance Halaveli – Constance Kids Club
If you’re travelling halfway around the world with kids in tow, you definitely want to make sure it’s worth the effort. Constance Halaveli has a perfect mix of fun for young’uns and space for parents. The kids’ club here is one of discovery, with a focus on collective enjoyment. Movie nights, swimming pool games and a kids’ circus promises hours of fun and the ‘different day – different theme’ concept is an intriguing and engaging one. As a member of the leading hotels of the world, Constance deliver excellent services with attentive staff to babysit when you would like a little ‘you-time’.
