To take a journey to the kingdom of Thailand is to begin an experience of one of the most beautiful, enchanting and exciting destinations in all of the world.

From the azure blue waters of the southern gulf, to the lush green rolling hills and peaceful villages of the north, to returning to the metropolitan buzz of Bangkok, nicknamed The Venice of the East, Thailand has something magical to offer any visitor. Authentic and unique experiences abound in this, the land of smiles.

True culture changes you, giving a new perspective on life, one that will challenge, enlighten and enthral. Thailand is one of the most culturally rich countries in the world, and has some absolute treasures waiting for you to discover. Hear the ancient Buddhist tales of an old sea captain in the coastal town of Krabi, or witness the incredible and rich artisanship of the northern hill tribes and traditional elephant conservation centres in Chiang Mai. You'll find that Thailand is overflowing with unique, authentic and new cultural experiences for its visitors.

Here we pick three of our favourite Thailand destinations, and three equally wondrous resorts which to revel in during your time in this fascinating and beautiful country.

Bangkok

Famously known as the “City of Angels”, Bangkok is both the capital of Thailand, and one of Asia’s most fascinating and alluring cities. A riot of colour, where ancient tradition meets uber-modern luxury, Bangkok will leave you breathless and thrilled with an array of uniquely Thai wonders. Here at Destinology, we’re huge fans, and we’d always urge any visitor to Thailand to spend at least two or three nights in the city. Whilst the huge skyscrapers and the rush and surge of the city may overwhelm upon arrival, there are amazing experiences to be had here. Wander away from the more popular areas, and before you know it you can be gently ambling down the historic Chao Phraya River on your way to sup some jasmine tea with trainee monks at the peaceful Wat Pho temple, or exploring the many mini villages and communities of the city. Everywhere you turn, the incredible Thai culture, and the much admired Thai smile, is there, on display with pride.

With Destinology, an enjoyable stay in the city is assured, as we have hand selected the very best hotels that the city has to offer. We have personally experienced the charm of these palaces of luxury, and can attest to their style and quality. The manicured riverside calm of The Peninsula is one of our favourites, and one we’d always recommend on your visit to Bangkok.

Koh Yao Noi

The Koh Yao Islands are some of Thailand’s lesser known travel destinations. This chain of 44 tiny islands is located on the edge of the picturesque Phang Nga Bay between Krabi and Phuket, and will appeal to the traveller eager to discover a small, intimate corner of this country. Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai are the two largest islands and they have gained popularity as peaceful and visually breathtaking holiday destinations. This is a place to escape and unwind, in an environment conducive to offering respite and relaxation.

There’s only one place we’d stay at on Koh Yao Noi; the incredible Six Senses Yao Noi. This resort boasts a location like no other. The flourishing tropical flora of the island and the picturesque landscapes surround the elevated villas to create a serene and private ambience; Ocean Pool Villas offer outstanding views over Phang Nha Bay. This is an idyllic, untouched, tropical island location that offers luxurious solitude as well as discovery and adventure; indulge in a pampering spa session or visit the Koh Phi Phi Islands for an exhilarating diving trip.

Krabi

If it is picture postcard Thailand that you are dreaming of, then arriving into Krabi is like finding heaven. Located in the south-west of the country, Krabi is a land of gorgeous shorelines, crowned by ancient limestone karst cliffs which tower out of lush, verdant rainforest. Aquamarine water laps on the white sand beaches, and in the distance the dazzling blue horizon is studded with dreamy tiny tropical islands, all waiting to be discovered. You cannot help but be captivated by this magical and beautiful place. Krabi is a perfect choice for honeymoons and romantic escapes, where all you are seeking is true luxury and barefoot paradise.

Boasting a truly stunning location on the edge of Krabi’s National Marine Park, and surrounded by sheer cliffs rising from the sea, you will find the unique and beautiful resort of Rayavadee. In these 26 acres of stunning coconut groves, you will find enchanting two-storey pavilion accommodations and beachfront villas. Recently refurbished with some fabulous Pool Pavilions, this beautiful resort is looking more spectacular than ever! Guests may take advantage of outstanding cuisine and an abundance of outdoor pursuits like kayaking, rock wall climbing and snorkelling or simply use their time to relax and unwind in one of Thailand’s most picturesque luxury resorts.
