Travel from the UK to Perth. Take advantage of a direct flight from London Heathrow to Western Australia’s capital, keeping travel time well under 20 hours!
On arrival in Perth you will be met and the transferred to your hotel, home for the next three nights. Explore at your leisure or add on any number of options for trips around the city and its surrounds. Highlights include Kings Park and the botanical gardens, maybe take a cruise on the Sawn River. Beaches on the Indian Ocean can be found in the suburbs such as Cottesloe, Fremantle and Rockingham or cross the water to Rottnest Island, home of the quokkas. Travel in land if you prefer to see famous Pinnacles Desert or Wave Rock. Plenty to see and do over 3 days.
Transfer to the airport for a domestic flight to Alice Springs. Land in the heart of the continent, the true Red Centre of Australia. After transferring to your hotel, the rest of the day will be free to explore Alice Springs. Relax under the giant skies or set out to see some of the local points of interest including Telegraph Station or the Royal Flying Doctors Service. You could head to the top of Anzac Hill for panoramic views over the township and MacDonnell Ranges.
Travel by comfortable coach across the outback, a great way to travel as you look out across the vast spaces of desert, on the lookout for kangaroos and other native wildlife. Your driver guide will provide a commentary as you travel with break stops at a camel farm and Atila (Mount Conner), another rock formation often mistaken for Uluru. After arriving into Ayers Rock resort and checking into your hotel for the next two nights, set off to see Uluru up close for the first time with a guided base tour. Afterwards, step along Kuniya Walk and see Mutitjulu Waterhole and visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre to learn all about the local cultures and traditions. In the late afternoon, return to see Uluru at sunset as the falling sun gives rise to striking colour changes as you enjoy nibbles and wine.
Rise early this morning to travel to the Uluru sunrise viewing area and watch the first rays of the sun set the Red Centre alight while enjoying a warming cup of tea or coffee. Then travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way enjoy panoramic views of the southern side before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. After a free afternoon around the resort, the evening includes the exciting experience as you dine under a millions stars at the Sounds of Silence Dinner. Enjoy a gourmet buffet of Australian delicacies accompanied by fine Australian wines, then sit back and relax as a startalker takes you on a tour of the southern night sky.
Transfer to the airport for a flight south to Melbourne. Arrive in the southern state of Victoria, a change of scene from the dry outback with a few days in the cosmopolitan city with an inviting outdoor lifestyle on the ocean. This evening enjoy the sights, sounds and flavours of Melbourne.
On a full day guided excursion, venture off the south coast to Philip Island, ideal for seeing Australia’s wildlife. At the island visitor centre, see the families of Little Penguins with a wildlife ranger. With a live commentary via personal headphones, watch the penguins battle the surf on their way to their beach burrows and nests. You will also visit Maru animal Park to see koalas, kangaroos and even Tasmanian devils. Stop in the town of Cowes for dinner on the way back to the city.
A free day to see more of Melbourne; unwind amongst the pavement cafes on the banks of the Yarra River. You may wish to join an excursion on the Great Ocean Road to see the Twelve Apostles, enjoy a tour of the city’s hidden corners or head into the Yarra Valley winelands.
Fly to Sydney and transfer to your hotel. Today is free for you to explore this famous harbour city. Stroll through The Rocks, with its cool shops and bars, and head on under the Harbour Bridge and see the Opera House. You might want to watch the world go by in the botanic gardens, and if you have a head for heights and a taste for adventure, book in advance a Harbour Bridge Climb.
Two free days in Sydney. Explore the city itself with a harbour cruise or more shopping and sightseeing; maybe visit the stunning beaches and laid-back seaside towns of Manly to the north or famous Bondi Beach to the south. You could venture out to the surroundings of New South Wales with an excursion into the Blue Mountains or taste the fantastic wines around the Hunter Valley winelands. Make the most out of two full days in this magnificent city.
Fly north to Cairns in tropical Queensland, and transfer to the resort town of Port Douglas. Set on the golden sweep of four-Mile beach, Port Douglas is an idyllic retreat and a base for trips to the Great Barrier Reef and the Queensland rainforest.
Experience a full day on one of the world’s most amazing natural wonders, with a full day cruise. Including morning & afternoon tea with lunch too, you will be taken to the Outer Reef, with one stop in the morning before arriving at Agincourt Reef after lunch. A full day free to explore the town of port Douglas or head out to see more of Tropical Queensland. Enjoy the weather and relax on Four-Mile Beach or travel north into Daintree Rainforest and see Mossman Gorge or Cape Tribulation amongst other great sights.
