Take the flight from London Heathrow with United Airlines, changing once en route in San Francisco to The Islands of Tahiti. Arrive on the largest island – Tahiti - for an overnight stop. This lush green island has plenty to offer if you wish to extend your stay, with secluded beaches and green valleys to explore.
Take a short land transfer from your hotel to the main international airport at Fa’a’a and board a local flight with Air Tahiti. A direct flight will take around 50 minutes which will fly by as you watch the clear Pacific Ocean and spot uninhabited tropical islands below. Marvel at your first sighting of Bora Bora as you land at the tiny airport on Motu Mute, located on its own island at the far north of the lagoon. From here, take a speed boat transfer trough the turquoise waters to your home in paradise for the next seven nights.
Spend your time in Bora Bora however you want to. Be as active as you like; the still waters of the lagoon are perfect for kayaking or stand up paddle boarding, or if you want something else to take the strain jump on a jet ski. As the open Pacific Ocean meets the island group of Bora Bora outside the lagoon, waves are created for perfect surf conditions. And a trip to Bora Bora wouldn’t be complete without getting under the water either from the beach of your hotel with a snorkelling trip or try your hand at diving in the clear waters. If all this feels to much, lie back on the beach, sip on a cocktail and marvel at the quite amazing views of Mount Otemanu.
A final morning relaxing by the warm waters of Bora Bora before you head back to Tahiti on a short internal flight. Connect at Papeete airport to United Airlines direct overnight service to San Francisco, where on arrival the following morning you will make your own way to downtown for a three-night stay.
After the tropical fun or relaxation of the South Pacific, head to the city by the bay for a few days of site seeing, and so many to get in. Travel on an iconic cable car, explore Fisherman’s Wharf, take pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge or cross it to explore the giant redwood forests north of the city. If Tahiti has given you that love of being on the water, take a cruise around the bay or across to Alcatraz; another must see in this amazing city but a good tip to pre-book if you are going in the peak times of summer. With all these options, as well as amazing shopping, bars and restaurants you are sure to love San Francisco as much as you did Bora Bora!
A final morning to get some shopping in maybe or a last-minute walk around Union Square before making you own way back to the airport for an overnight flight to the UK.
