Depart on an overnight flight to Kuala Lumpur
You’ll be met on arrival for a private transfer to your hotel in the city centre for 2 nights. Spend a few days exploring this exciting modern city with Malay character. The Petronas Towers, the Batu Caves and Kuala Lumpur’s night markets are all cool things to see, and recharge your batteries ready for Borneo.
Private transfer to the airport and fly to Sandakan. Meet your guide and transfer to Sepilok, a centre of conservation a. Stay for a night at Sepilok Nature Resort, it’s no frills but an amazing location in the heart of the rainforest amid towering trees.
Just a short walk from the lodge are the boardwalks of the Sepilok Orangutan Reserve, possibly the best place in the world to see rescued orang utan and where you can see the morning feeding. Then head over to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see these shy, small bears. In the afternoon, a two hour boat journey passes stilt-hut villages and lush rainforest to Kinbatangan.

Rise early to experience the thrilling sounds and colours of the ancient rainforest, the birdlife here is astounding. A morning, afternoon and evening river cruises are included, with a visit to a traditional village and in the afternoon, when the light is best, you may see endangered proboscis monkey and the evening can bring out beautiful colonies of firefly.

Head to the coast, take the boat to Sandakan then a short flight to Kota Kinabalu, maybe with views of Mount Kinabalu. Take the speedboat to Gaya Island for some serious relaxation and serious comfort and a 4 night stay.
Do as much or as little as you want. Be pampered, taste delicious local cuisine and fresh seafood, relax on the beach and in your villa. The wonderful nature continues, as Gaya Island has a marine turtle rescue centre and resident wildlife experts. Beach barbeque, snorkelling exploration, sunset cruises and a marine safari are among a host of optional activities.
You’ll usually have some time at leisure before the transfer to the airport for your overnight return flight, or add a few days back on Peninsula Malaysia.
