Depart on an overnight flight from the UK to Kochi. Upon arrival, you will be met and guided to your hotel. In the south Indian state of Kerala, Kochi is made up of backwaters, lagoons and picturesque islands. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, with an optional activity of a sunset motorboat harbour cruise. Once a major centre of trade and commerce, the harbour’s coastline and scattering of Chinese fishing nets are particularly beautiful at sunset.

  • Day 3
    Kochi

Start your day with a heritage walk of Fort Kochi. An excellent way to experience local life and culture while learning more about the rich history of the city. A major flood in Kochi occurred in AD 1341 and as a result the natural harbour was formed. In turn, Kochi became popular with seafaring visitors from around the world. These foreign influences can be seen across the city, from St. Francis Church and the Santa Cruz Basilica to the Chinese fishing nets. All of which are included on your walk.

Next, visit the district of Mattancherry. Formerly a hub for spice and tea trade, it now houses a number of notable sights. Take some time to visit the Dutch Palace and the Jewish synagogue. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performance. This involves dancers dressed in elaborate paint and masks, moving to the sound of drums and musicians.

  • Day 5
    Munnar

This day will see you explore the tea plantations that make up the town. Established in the 19th-century, the sloping fields and rows of waist-high bushes are connected by a series of narrow pathways, like a maze. The Kannan Devan Hills area is known as “India’s Scotland”. After sampling some of the teas on offer, including black, green and white, visit the Tea Museum. The first of its kind in India, it provides further insight into the history of Munnar and its tea cultivation.
