    UK to Delhi

    After arriving in Delhi, you will be met and guided to your hotel. Either take some time to relax, or enjoy an optional workshop on the different types of teas and what makes them unique.

  • Day 3
    Delhi

    Kick off your journey in the buzzing capital city. In the morning, see the hectic Chandi Chowk come alive as the trading day starts. Vibrant bazaars sell everything from fragrant spices to precious stones. Hop in a cycle rickshaw for a ride through Old Delhi, and stop by landmarks such as the Red Fort and Jama Masjid. Continue to the sights of New Delhi, and sample some of the famous street food if you can handle the spice. Alternatively, dine with a local family at their home as an optional experience.

  • Day 4
    Delhi to Jaipur

    Next up is a drive southwest to Jaipur, known as the ‘pink city’. You’ll soon see where the nickname comes from – almost every building is in terracotta pink. It’s even enforced by law. An optional activity teaches you more about the city’s arts and crafts community.

  • Day 5
    Jaipur

    Get your teeth into Jaipur on a full-day tour, starting with a morning visit of Amber Fort. This grand old fort is a Wold Heritage Site. Take a jeep up to the top and marvel at the ramparts and terraces that are reflected in the lake below. Then it’s time to venture into the city. Stop by the City Palace Museum and get those Instagram-worthy pictures of the Hawa Mahal. Round off your day at the local market as you haggle on the precious stones and jewellery.

  • Day 6
    Jaipur to Agra

    Head east to Agra, the final destination in India’s golden triangle. The evening brings a live show – Mohabatte the Taj. This is the story behind the Taj Mahal and its reason for being built. A perfect prelude before you go and see it for yourself.

  • Day 7
    Agra

    Start bright and early with a visit to the iconic Taj Mahal. With last night’s show in mind, it’s even more impressive. Pictures simply don’t do it justice. It is believed to have taken 18 years and 20,000 craftsmen working around the clock to be completed. Next, wander the 16th- century World Heritage Site of Agra Fort. As an optional experience, take a walk through the nearby Kachpura Village and meet the locals.

  • Day 8
    Agra to Gwailor

    Moving on from the golden triangle, head to Gwailor in the central state of Madhya Pradesh. This historic city is full of towering palaces, ancient temples and mosques. But the standout landmark is the 10th-century Gwailor Fort. It’s pretty much impenetrable, with all sides leading to a steep fall in the valley. Explore it for yourself and learn more at the museum.

  • Day 9
    Gwailor to Jhansi to Khajuraho

    Board the Shatabadi Express for Jhansi where you will be met and driven to Khajuraho. En route, stop for lunch at the laidback town of Orchha.

  • Day 10
    Khajuraho to Varanasi

    In the morning, wander around the serene erotic temples of Khajuraho. The ancient monuments depict the love making of gods and goddesses. Although it’s not all erotic – there’s some scenes of battles and figures of Lord Shiva there too. Later, head to the airport for your flight east to Varanasi, the holy city of India. At sundown visit the Ghats to witness an Aarti ceremony, a surreal experience with lamps and singing.

  • Day 11
    Varanasi

    Rise early for a morning boat cruise along the River Ganges, watching as the city wakes up and people go about their daily routines. Varanasi is one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. You can just sense the history and importance of the place as you glide along the waters. Back on land, discover the Sarnath which symbolises the birth of Buddhism. While there might be no grand palaces or huge forts, Varanasi has a distinct charm like found nowhere else in India.

    Varanasi to Delhi

    There’s a couple of hours in the morning to take in Varanasi one last time, then head to the airport for your flight to Delhi.

‘Distinguished Address in India’s Capital’

Built in 1931, The Imperial is a historic hotel in New Delhi. Set on Janpath, it is close by to Connaught Place, a major shopping district. The airport is around a 30-minute drive away. The hotel features 190 rooms and 43 suites, as well as a collection of 9 restaurants and bars. Cuisine ranges from south-east Asian at The Spice Route to pan Indian at Daniell’s Tavern. Facilities include a spa and salon.

Samode Haveli was built 175 years ago as the residence of the rulers of Samode. The traditional Indian mansion is set in a verdant garden with apartments placed around courtyards. Each opens out to balconies overlooking the pools, fountain courts and gardens. Alongside restaurants, there’s a swimming pool, spa and fitness centre.

‘Moments from Taj Mahal’

ITC Mughal is spread over 35 acres of lush gardens, close by to the Taj Mahal. It offers a great representation of Mughal architecture and houses 233 rooms and suites, each with their own style and charm. First built in 1880, over the years Taj Usha Kiran Palace, Gwalior has played host to dignitaries and royalty. Rooms and suites are decorated with notable artwork and furnishings.
