Great Drives
North America
Aug - Dec

See the epic America of the movies, the cinematography of the big skies with an orchestral score.  Drive through Monument Valley and the red rock canyons, the scenery of the Westerns or a Thelma and Louise road trip.

This is the grand America of the imagination, the American Dream. So why not do it in a bit of style, in a blaze of glory and slow down a bit to truly live the grandeur

Stay in true American West style in a selection of ranches, lodges and hotels in ideal locations surrounded by scenic beauty, including right next to the rim of the Grand Canyon.

There’s also unforgettable activities included, a heli over the Grand Canyon, rafting or a jet boat on the Colorado River and a wild west train in the Rockies.

And slow down, with 3 nights at the Grand Canyon to see it properly, not just a half hour photo stop –this wonder of the world surely deserves it. Spend plenty of time off the beaten track. We’ll arrange the right car for you, the right places to stay and you can always stay longer or add on a bit of California and beyond.

And start and finish in Las Vegas, for that incredible juxtaposition of the wilderness, blow the desert off your shoes with a bit of Sin City.

So grab your Stetson and your best blue jeans and go west in style.

  • Day 3
    To Zion National Park

Pick up your SUV Car close to the hotel. Then it’s time to head away from the huge hotels and the lights of the strip and hit the open road.

It’s just a half day’s drive to the Zion National Park, a first taste of the American wild and a real gem. Stay at Zion Mountain Ranch for three nights.

Relax into a slow pace of life, enjoy the abundant nature at this homely American ranch. Tuck into farm to table food, as fresh as it comes direct from the ranch.

There a great variety of lodging at Zion Mountain Ranch, we’ve based this itinerary example on a Preserve Cabin Suite, an individual wooden lodge with great views and wonderful, peaceful comfort.

Destinology suggest at least three nights here, time to see the Zion National Park but also to enjoy the activities, and the down-time, of the ranch.

  • Day 6

Drive north to Bryce today. This is a park that some miss out, and regret it. Full of spires and irregular rock columns called hoodoos, Bryce is a unique landscape. It’s easily accessible via hiking trails, and we can arrange expert local guides - the Navajo Loop Trail will take you on a winding path through the geologic wonders.  Or ATV Tours are exciting excursions to see the park’s lesser-known parts, while horseback rides descend straight into the canyon.

Stay for a night at the Best Western Bryce Canyon. Not the most salubrious stop on this trip, but it’s a great location to stop over and discover the canyon without rushing off.
