Travel on the iconic Rocky Mountaineer on this one-way tour from Calgary, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, across to Vancouver on the Pacific Coast.  Take in the mountain town of Banff before you board the train for a relaxed and luxurious two day, all daylight trip through the mountains. The sites and highlights are numerous but keep your eyes peeled for black and grizzly bears and Bald Eagles swooping around the banks of several rivers that you will cross.  A short but fantastic way to see this amazing corner of a wonderful country.

  • Day 1
    UK to Calgary

    Travel from the UK to Calgary International Airport. Upon arrival, a transfer will take you to downtown Calgary for an overnight in this friendly little city.  If you get time, a real highlight is a trip up the Calgary Tower for views from the heart of downtown out to the wonderful Rocky Mountains.

  • Day 2
    Calgary to Banff

    Take a scenic two-hour drive from Calgary to Banff, passing slow moving rivers and glacial lakes as the Rocky Mountains grow ever closer in front of you.

  • Day 3

    A full day to spend in the wonderful town or exploring outside amongst Banff National Park.   Walk the pleasant streets, stroll by the Bow River or relax in the Banff Upper Hot Springs, whatever you do the views will be amazing.  A must in Banff is to take the gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain and take in the spectacular 360-degree views from the impressive visitor centre, home to displays about history as well as gift shop and several choices for refreshment.

  • Day 4
    Banff to Kamloops

    Day One on the Rocky Mountaineer and you head through the mountains towards an overnight stop in Kamloops, right in the heart of British Columbia.  As you travel between glacier and snow-capped peaks of the Rockies, marvel at stunning scenery and some impressive feats of engineering such as The Kicking Horse Canyon and the Spiral Tunnels, carved into the mountain over 100 years ago.  Arrive in Kamloops early evening for an overnight stay.

  • Day 5
    Kamloops to Vancouver

    Continue on West towards the Pacific Ocean and your eventual destination of vibrant Vancouver.  After descending from the Rockies into central British Columbia on day one, day two continues through desert-like environments of the interior, along river banks and past vast lakes to the green fields of the Fraser Valley.   Today’s main photograph opportunities include the Thompson River and Hells Gate.

  • Days 6 - 7

    Two days to explore one of the most beautiful, friendly and wonderful cities of North America.  Located on a peninsula between two bodies of water really lends so much to Vancouver while the Coastal Mountains north of the city give it a stunning backdrop.  Walk the sea wall around Stanley Park, explore the waterfront promenade around Canada Place or even relax on the beach of English Bay, Vancouver has pretty much all. Couple this with amazing dining – especially in historic Gastown – great bars and trendy nightlife, you are sure to love Vancouver.

  • Days 8 - 9
    Vancouver to the UK

    Final day to explore Vancouver.  Get in some last-minute shopping along Robson Street, visit trendy Yaletown or browse the markets of Granville Island before a private transfer will take you to Vancouver International Airport for an overnight flight back to the UK.
