Knight Inlet Lodge floats above water within Glendale Cove and is accessible only by floatplane during a short summer season. Whether it is in early summer, when the bears forage on the coastlines at low tide for barnacles, or at the height of the summer when the salmon return to the spawning channels giving the bears access to thousands of fish, you are more or less guaranteed to see these wonderful animals. Bears are the main reason to travel here, but don’t be surprised to see whales, dolphins, seals and majestic bald eagles grace the cove and inlet.  Combine this with a few days exploring vibrant Vancouver and you can have a truly memorable holiday experience.

  • Day 1
    UK to Vancouver

    Travel from the UK to Vancouver International Airport  where a private transfer will meet you, driving the half hour or so into this wonderful city on the water.  This evening, chose to walk by Canada Place or head into Gastown for some of the city’s best restaurants.

  • Days 2 - 3

    Vancouver is a bustling and beautiful city with plenty of options around and about to fill a couple of days.  Within easy reach of downtown is the Waterfront; head to Canada Place where the cruise ships dock and while there, check out the interactive Fly Over Canada; a fantastic immersive ride really highlighting all of Canada.  Check out other sites such as Stanley Park and Granville Island within the city or head north over the Lions Gate Bridge to scale the heights of the Capillano Suspension Bridge.

  • Day 4
    Vancouver to Campbell River

    Enjoy a final morning in Vancouver before taking a private transfer to Vancouver Airport's South Terminal.  Take a flight with Pacific Coastal Airlines of about an hour to Campbell River, about half way up Vancouver Island.  This is the stopping off point for Knight Inlet and Grizzly Tours will transfer you from the airport to your hotel.  Explore this quaint little town on the water for the rest of the day; seeing the huge cruise ships traversing the Inside Passage from this location is a frequent and enthralling site.

  • Day 5
    Knight Inlet Lodge

    You will be taken to the nearby floatplane base for a short flight to Knight Inlet Lodge. Following a small boat excursion in the estuary, depart on two 2-hour tours in the afternoon; the first of these follows the bears, whilst the other will be a sightseeing cruise.

  • Day 6
    Knight Inlet Lodge

    It is up to you how you spend this day at the lodge. Venture in land and view the bears in the streams, take a sea kayaking tour of Glendale Cove, hike through the Kwalate River Valley or go on a wildlife tracking adventure.

  • Days 7 - 8
    Knight Inlet Lodge to the UK

    You will have time for one last bear viewing cruise around Glendale Cove after breakfast. While out on the water, your seaplane will arrive to take you back to Campbell River.  From here, take the return flight to Vancouver South Terminal and transfer to the international side of the airport and check-in for an overnight flight back to the UK.
