    Travel from the UK to Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island.  Make the journey with just one connection if you take Singapore Airlines from London Heathrow but the options are plenty wherever you wish to fly from via the Middle East, East Asia or even Air New Zealand via Los Angeles!

    Christchurch Arrival

    Upon arrival in Christchurch you will have time to rest after a long flight or explore this great city on your own.  Perhaps visit the International Antarctic Centre or Orana Wildlife Park, New Zealand’s only open-range zoo. This evening meet your Journey Director for a welcome drink with your fellow travellers.

  • Day 4
    Christchurch to Franz Josef Glacier via TranzAlpine Train

    Today board the famous Tranzalpine train, rated as one of the world's top ten scenic railway journeys. Travel across the Canterbury Plains through the spectacular Southern Alps. At Arthur's Pass, join the coach for the journey towards Franz Josef. A stop en route will be taken at Hokitika where a local craftsman will give you a wonderful demonstration of jewellery caving using the vivid local greenstone (jade).

    After a relaxed start, you’ll explore the area with a local guide, who’ll explain the history behind Franz Josef Glacier.

    Franz Josef to Queenstown

    It’s time for adventure as you board a purpose-built fully enclosed river jet boat and journey down the Haast River. After a lunch stop in Makarora and later the historic gold-mining village of Arrowtown, the adventure capital of Queenstown awaits and you’ll have an opportunity to explore it during an orientation tour.

    Queenstown

    Two days at leisure for you to explore New Zealand's adventure-capital. Maybe ride the Skyline Gondola to Bob’s Peak for a view overlooking stunning Queenstown, the awesome Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu or take advantage of the adventure capital of New Zealand with a Jet Boat ride down through Shotover Canyon.  On your first evening in Queenstown indulge in a highlight dinner at one of Queenstown’s fine dining restaurants.

  • Day 9
    Queenstown to Milford Sound

    Travel south along the shores of Lake Wakatipu to Te Anau. Later you’ll travel through the rainforest of World Heritage Fiordland National Park, sighting glaciers and mountain ranges before driving through the hand-hewn Homer Tunnel on your way to Milford Sound.  Overnight is spent by the edge of the river, close to Milford Sound.

    Milford Sound Cruise

    Wake up to the startling beauty of Milford Sound. This morning, before boarding the Southern Discoveries vessel for a half day exploration of Milford Sound, a nature guide will share their knowledge of the fiordland and the wildlife that call it home. Once aborad the ship, you will sail out to the Tasman sea, always on the lookout for wildlife and an opportunity to go sea kayaking in Harrison Cove.

    Milford Sound to Dunedin

    This morning, embark on a journey from the rainforests of Fiordland National Park through the fertile sheep-dotted pastures of South Otago and Te Anau, known for its beautiful lake. Stop in the country musical town of Gore at lunchtime before arriving in Dunedin, New Zealand’s southernmost city.

    Dunedin

    In the morning, join an exclusive tour of Larnach Castle.  Located on the spectacular Otago Peninsula, the castle and gardens date back to 1871.  Your afternoon is at leisure in Dunedin. Perhaps ride the historic Taieri Gorge Railway or take a wildlife cruise.

    Christchurch to Wellington

    Against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks, you’ll arrive in the whale-watching capital of Kaikoura. Consider an optional experience scenic whale-watching flight. Continue to the picturesque port town of Picton, the launch pad for a serene sailing across the Cook Strait to trendy Wellington.

    Christchurch to Wellington

    Hawke's Bay & Napier

    Enjoy a relaxed start before you venture out to explore Napier. Join a local guide for a city tour where you’ll see several types of Art Deco architecture, the style in which Napier was rebuilt after a devastating earthquake in 1931. This evening enjoy wine-tasting and dinner at one of the region’s renowned wineries.

    Hawke's Bay to Rotorua

    You’ll travel past Lake Taupo and visit Huka Falls before you arrive in Rotorua, the cultural capital, for a sightseeing tour. Visit Whakarewarewa Living Village for insights into the lives of the Maori community and their special bond with this ancient land. This evening enjoy a Maori Hangi feast and concert at the Tamaki Maori Marae.

    Rotorua

    Your first stop is Rotorua’s natural splendour, revealed in the crystal-clear mineral springs and native flora of Rainbow Springs Nature Park. Rainbow Springs is proud to be home of the National Kiwi Hatchery Aotearoa, where over 1,800 kiwi chicks have been hatched to date. You’ll enjoy a 'behind the scenes' tour of the Hatchery. Learn all about the efforts of our kiwi husbandry team, discover what it takes to hatch a chick, and if you're lucky, see baby chicks in person! Later, ascending to the Redwoods Treewalk, enjoy an elevated view of these redwood giants from a series of 23 suspension bridges linking the majestic trees, a completely unique perspective. Your afternoon is at leisure.
