Travel from the UK to Auckland. With many options to choose from New Zealand has rarely been so accessible with Middle Eastern carriers such as Emirates able to offer you a one stop service between several departure points across the country. The flight and time difference will mean a two-night travel period but only 25-26 hours of actual travelling.
Upon arrival into Auckland, collect your car at the airport and head into Auckland. Spend two days getting to know this fantastic city with the impressive Sky Tower at its heart offering thrill seekers to do a Sky Jump or SkyWalk. Restaurants, bars and museums abound giving you plenty to see and do.

Leave the city behind had head east to the Coromandel Peninsula to experience some of the spectacular scenery and coastlines that North Island has to offer, with your two night stay in Tairua on the eastern side of the peninsular.
Embark on a full-day guided tour of Coromandel, renowned for its natural beauty, misty rainforests and pristine golden beaches. Visit Hot Water Beach, see spectacular Cathedral Cove and visit Te-Wanganui-A Hei Marine Reserve.

Drive south from Coromandel today, heading for Lake Rotarua in the middle of North Island, and your next stop for three nights. En route, a possible de tour would be to the amazing Hobbiton Movie, located close to Matamata, about half way along your journey.
Spend two full days enjoying the Lake, geothermal activity and local Maori culture and traditions in this stunning part of New Zealand. Highlights include Wai-o-tapu Thermal Valley with its highly coloured thermal pools and bubbling mud. Experience Maori culture at Te Puia or relax in a thermal spa.

Head south east from Rotorua to Napier on the Pacific Coast, overlooking Hawke’s Bay. En route, stop off at Lake Taupo and see the thundering Huka Falls. Once in Napier, stroll the art deco town, enjoy fantastic local wines or visit Cape Kidnappers, with its colony of gannets.
Drive distance – 200 miles / 322 km
The final drive of the tour takes you south from Napier to the southern tip of North Island and the city if Wellington. En route, stop off in Palmerston North for a stroll around this great little town.
Wellington city is nestled compactly on the harbour edge and encircled by steeply rising hills. The nation's capital is a flourishing centre of arts and culture, including a thriving film industry. Take the morning or afternoon to embark on a tour of the city’s sights, from the earthquake-scarred south coast to the iconic cable car, from the magnificent parliament buildings to the Old St Paul’s cathedral.
Depart from Wellington airport after dropping your hire car off. Flights back to the UK are usually a three-legged affair, going via Auckland and either the US or Middle East so an easy opportunity to break the long journey home.
