    Wellington to Martinborough

    Drive distance – 80 km / 50 miles

    Collect a car ahead of your drive around North Island. The area of Martinborough is home to over 20 vineyards while the town itself has a fantastic colonial charm as well as plenty of walking and cycling tracks.

    Zest Food Tour – Martinborough Food & Wine Producers

    This gourmet tour takes you by car around the small towns of the south Wairarapa, exploring the pretty historical township of Greytown and the celebrated Martinborough wine village. Naturally, a delicious three course tasting lunch is matched with premium Martinborough wines.

    Martinborough to Napier

    Drive distance: 272 km / 169 miles

    Head north along the island from the south east corner to Napier on the east coast, overlooking Hawke’s Bay. Known as the ‘art deco city’, it is also the home of New Zealand wine, housing the oldest wineries and wine-making establishments in the country.

    Napier to Rotorua

    Drive distance – 230 km / 143 miles

    Continue the journey north and head for Rotorua. Take a detour en route if you wish and visit the stunning locale of Lake Taupo. Arrive at your hotel on the banks of Lake Rotorua.

  • Day 8
    Te Po Indigenous Evening Experience

    Enjoy a tour of the Eco Thermal Park. Later in the day, discover New Zealand’s national carving and weaving schools. The tour will include a visit to the interactive galleries and Kiwi House, followed by a visit to the mud pools and geysers. The evening tour begins at Te Keketanga-a-Rangi (Heavenly Origins), a space comprising twelve monumental carvings reaching skyward. Experience an authentic Maori welcome ceremony, warrior's challenge and kapa haka concert, followed by a traditional Maori Feast.

    The final day of driving heads around Lake Rotorua and up into Auckland, the largest city and urban area in New Zealand.

    Waiheke Island – Gourmet Food and Wine Tour

    Take the ferry to Waiheke Island. The gourmet food and wine tour whilst here will allow you to enjoy succulent fresh oysters, award winning olive oil and other locally produced specialty foods, accompanied by wines from some of the Island's top boutique vineyards. You will visit an award winning olive oil mill, followed by two vineyards, each offering a range of gourmet tastes to accompany their wines.
