  • Day 3
    Delhi

    Now it’s time to really get to grips with this buzzing capital city. Exploring both Old and New Delhi, visit landmarks like Qutab Minar, India Gate, Jama Masjid and Red Fort. Take a rickshaw ride through the hectic streets and watch as everyday life plays out. In Chandni Chowk, navigate the narrow bazaars past the fragrant spices and wonderful produce, from edible silver to precious stones. The delicious smell of street food is never too far away.

  • Day 4
    Delhi to Bishangarh

    Today you will be driven to Alila Fort Bishangarh near Jaipur. This heritage hotel was built inside a 230-year old fort and took almost a decade to renovate. Thick surrounding walls feature openings for turrets, acting as a reminder of when it was used for war. Wandering the lush grounds, admiring the stunning views, it’s not hard to see why this was the former home of kings.

  • Day 5
    Bishangarh

    Kick off your day with a trek through the Aravalli hills, encountering local people and learning about their traditions. The views at sunrise are something special. You’ll no doubt want to sit and soak them up for a while, so a breakfast picnic will be packed just for you. The evening brings dining under the stars at Nazaara restaurant, specialising in seasonal dishes and fire pit cooking.

  • Day 6
    Bishangarh to Jaipur

    Take a short drive to Jaipur, the capital of Rajashtan state. Known as the “pink city”, on arrival you’ll soon see why – every building is in terracotta pink, with few exceptions. This is even enforced under local law. In the evening, watch a son-et-lumière (sound and light) show with views of Amber Fort in the background.

  • Day 7
    Jaipur

    Get out and explore those pink buildings and forts for yourself. The morning starts with a tour of Amber Fort, a World Heritage Site by the Maota Lake. Wander the vast ramparts and terraces which are reflected in the water below. Then head to the City Palace Complex with its museum, the Jantar Mantar observatory, and the wonderful Hawa Mahal. An optional activity takes you on a walk through the Old City.

  • Day 8
    Jaipur

    Today takes you to two more forts, Jaigarh and Nahargarh. Jaigarh is in fact connected to Amber Fort by subterranean passages and considered as one complex. Its cannon was once the largest of its kind on wheels. Nahargarh Fort is on the edge of the Aravalli Hills, overlooking breathtaking views of Jaipur. Optional activities include a morning bike ride and an evening cooking session.

  • Day 9
    Jaipur to Nimaj

    Head southwest to Nimaj and your luxury tented camp, Chhatra Sagar. Here you will find a row of tents on the dam of a reservoir, far away from the bustle of India’s busy cities. The same family have looked after the camp for over a century, and dishes are prepared using recipes passed down through generations.

    Nimaj

    Wake up to a relaxing breakfast overlooking the waters, then visit the dam. Enjoy a tasty specially-prepared picnic, swim in the waters, try your hand at birdwatching and angling, or simply sit back and take it all in.

  • Day 11
    Nimaj to Mihir Garh

    Next up is a drive to the boutique Mihir Garh hotel, poised on a sand mound on the edge of a desert. The sand dune is called “Mali Nathji ka D hora”, dedicated to the warrior god. The evening is to do with as you please, with your suite’s private plunge pool offering a very attractive option.

  • Day 12
    Mihir Garh

    On an action-packed day, explore Jodhpur and its 15th-century fort, Mehrangarh. Its walls tower up to 36 metres high and were used to protect beautiful and historic palaces. After wandering the grounds, head back out for a jeep safari to Bishnoi village, giving you a taste of tribal India. The villagers are friendly folk who will happily interact. It’s a bit like time has stood still here – ancient traditions still prevail, and animals roam freely around the lake.

  • Day 13
    Mihir Garh to Udaipur

    Your last stop in Rajasthan, Udaipur is a romantic setting with narrow streets, fountain pavilions and colourful gardens all set beside three lakes. Marble palaces dot the landscape and are reflected in the glistening Lake Pichola. It’s only fitting that you will be staying in one of the palaces, which is set in the middle of the lake, like an island in itself.

    Udaipur

    Head out on a morning tour of the city, stopping first at the City Palace complex with houses the private residence of Maharana of Mewar, or the “king of kings”. After the palace, wander through the markets and bazaars on the search for a bargain – there’s everything from gemstone paintings to dancing puppets. There’s also a visit to a vintage car museum, and the option for a lovely evening boat ride on Lake Pichola.

‘Luxury Tents; Boutique Camp’

Chhatra Sagar Camp is made up of a series of tents poised on the dam of a reservoir. The camp is run by the same family who have owned the property for over a century. Today, they try to keep the traditions of the camp going: dishes are prepared using family recipes, while some ingredients are sourced on-site. Each tent features a comfortable bed and hot running water.

‘Boutique Suites with Plunge Pools’

Translating as ‘Fort of the Sun’, Mihir Garh is in Jodhpur’s Thar desert. Featured at the hotel are nine suites, with each boasting a private plunge pool.
