Travel out to fabulous Newfoundland on this exclusive and private tour.  Explore the tiny province, a ready to be discovered corner of Atlantic Canada.  With direct flights into the capital of St John’s taking only just over five hours, it’s a very easily accessible destination.  Once there, this tour will escort you around the colourful and vibrant harbourside city of St John’s before you board your own private helicopter to take a trip to the wilderness of Fogo Island, and a four-night stay at the unique and wonderful Fogo Island Inn.  With a range of activities at the hotel and on the island, that change with the islands ‘Seven Seasons’, there is plenty to keep you happy on this amazing adventure.

  • Day 1
    UK to St John's

    Travel from the UK to St John’s, the biggest city on Newfoundland.  As the closest point of Eastern Canada to the UK, flight time is only a little over five hours on Air Canada’s direct service from Heathrow.  Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in the city, located on the historic waterfront and home in this quaint little city for the next two nights.

  • Day 2
    St John's

    After breakfast at the hotel, head out into the colourful streets of St John’s on a private guided tour.  See all the major sites around and about including Signal Hill and the Cabot Tower, an imposing presence at the entrance to the harbour, overlooking St John’s for over 120 years.  See Quidi Vidi Village, just outside the city and tour the centre of St John’s with its famous multi coloured buildings.  The rest of the day is free to explore with plenty to do within the city or head off hiking towards Cape Spear Lighthouse.

  • Day 3
    St John's to Fogo Island

    After breakfast at the hotel, a private transfer will take you back to St John’s Airport and board your private helicopter for the flight north.  Taking around 75 minutes, this scenic flight will travel over the Bonavista Peninsula and across Hamilton Sound directly onto Fogo Island, where you will be met by the some of the hotel team who will transfer you to the resort, where you get to spend the next four nights.

    Fogo Island

    The full year at Fogo Island covers seven ‘seasons’; Winter, Ice and late Fall are all possible outside of this tours Spring, Summer and early fall dates. Whichever time of year you go, there is a different perspective for seeing and enjoying Fogo Island.

    Year-round activities include plenty of hiking options including The Backwestern Shore, meet and walk the inns wonderful Newfoundland dogs, Make and Break, local craft and orientation programes are on offer while the clear night skies are great for stargazing.  The Inn itself also offers a cinema, fitness room, sauna and rooftop hot tubs.

    Fogo Island to the UK

    A final morning on Fogo Island is followed by a private helicopter flight back to St John’s.  From here you can head on the overnight flight direct back to London Heathrow or extend your stay in Canada with flight options to Halifax in Nova Scotia, or the big cities of Toronto and Montreal.

Spring Time in May will bring the weather for hiking along the coast or in to the island, seeing the impressive site of waves crashing on the cliffs and beaches or spotting icebergs as they float down from the Arctic.

Trap Berth Season - June

Trap Berth season in June is all about the local fishing industry – meet local fisherman to hear the stories, row a punt boat around the coastal waters or if you prefer dry land, explore the colourful scenes as wildflowers bloom all over the island.

Summer - July & August

Summer months are characterised by a warm southerly breeze while more flowers bloom across the island.  Get outdoors and enjoy the sun as you hike, cycle or comb the beaches in search of abundant wildlife and birds including puffins, while the icebergs continue to drift by.  The calmer waters offer the perfect time of year to head out to Little Fogo Islands a tiny archipelago specked with traditional wooden houses that was historically used by Fogo Islanders as a seasonal fishing base.

Berry Season - September & October

The final season on offer for the time of the tour is Berry Season.  As the temperature cools a little and the wind becomes westerly, the island is covered in a wide variety of edible berries.  Head out along the paths and through the barrens to pick yourself handfuls of blueberries, raspberries, marshberries or partridgeberries.  Locals will be out too, picking the fruit for making preserves so get some tips and even see some secret berry patches!
