Chose to fly direct from London with British Airways or Air Canada, select options from Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow with Air Transat offering some direct flights or travel from the region via London or other gateways. Upon arrival, a private car transfer will take you to your hotel in Vancouver for two nights.
Take a day to explore one of our favourite cities. A love for adventure and the outdoor life pervades Vancouver and it’s easy to see why and get involved. From cycling the many pathways through Stanley Park, scaling the walkways in the tree tops and crossing the Capilano Suspension bridge or getting on the water an kayaking on False Creek, there is plenty to see and do if you wish to be adventurous or simply walk around this beautiful city. Canada Place by the waterfront, Robson Street for shopping or Gastown if you are a foodie are the best places to spend some time.
First Passage to the West - Day 1
An early morning start as you transfer from your Vancouver Hotel to Rocky Mountaineer’s own station on the edge of the city. Take your seat in the comfortable and roomy GoldLeaf dome cabin as it slowly meanders out of the city. Starting in the Fraser River Valley, lush green fields slowly make way for forsests and mountains as you climb over and through the Coast and Cascade ranges. As you approach Kamloops for an overnight stop, the interior of British Columbia is almost desert like. Keep an eye out for one of the highlights of day one - Hell’s Gate in the Fraser River Canyon.

First Passage to the West - Day 2
Leave behind the flat interior of British Columbia as the you being the slow climb into the Rocky Mountains. Pass by glacier fed lakes, rushing rivers and snow-capped mountains as you marvel at nature and human engineering; the Spiral Tunnels take you high into the peaks and it’s amazing to think they were engineered over 100 years ago. Other highlights include Rogers Pass and the Kicking Horse Canyon before you arrive into Banff and transfer to your hotel.

Enjoy a day relaxing in the scenic mountain town of Banff. Take the free shuttle bus into downtown and stroll the wide streets, enjoying the atmosphere, shops, bars and many restaurants in this quaint but energetic town. From the location of your hotel, it is a short stroll to the Banff Gondola if you wish to take the trip to the top of Sulphur Mountain and take in the views from the excellent visitor centre at the peak.
Take a short transfer from Banff to Lake Louise and spend the rest of the day enjoying the mountains, views and activities surrounding this picturesque glacial lake, hemmed in on three sides by towering mountains, giving it a unique and wonderful setting. Walk around the banks and enjoy the view from all angles or take to the water in a canoe for a truly memorable experience.
Today is all about the Icefields Parkway – a scenic journey north through Alberta, passing along the valley floor with towering peaks on either side as you head for Jasper. Stop off points along the way include Peyto Lake and then the highlight of the trip as you stop at the Columbia Icefield. Take an expedition on a massive Ice Explorer which will drive you out to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier. Walk on the ice, touch it and even taste the pure melt water if you like before heading onto the visitor centre for lunch and braving the Glacier Skywalk – a 1km glass walk way suspended over 280m over the valley floor. The journey continues to Jasper for an overnight stay.
All aboard for the bulk of the journey Trans-Canada. With a scheduled departure around 12.30pm, you can take the morning to explore Jasper with local Maligne Lake a great spot for a short cruise or head to the top of the mountains via the Jasper Skytram for more amazing views. Check into you train journey at the station downtown and find you luxury cabin in the Prestige Sleeper Class, home for the next three nights as your cross this vast country.

Sit back and relax on board the cross-country service from Jasper to Toronto. Leaving behind the Rocky Mountains and peaks of Alberta, head through the prairies of Saskeetchawen and Manitoba, passing through cities such as Saskatoon and Winnipeg before entering northern Onatrio and heading south for Tornoto, on the edge of the Great Lakes. A relaxing journey, in the top class option on board, gives you full access to all food and beverages as well as amazing views from the Panorama Car and the lounges of the Prestige Park car.

Arrive early morning into Toronto on day 11 and take two whole days to explore the city. Canada’s biggest city in terms of population, this multi-cultural hub is one of the best to visit in North America. Visit the famous CN Tower for fabulous views across the city and Lake Ontario. Take to the lake on a cruise or stroll around Toronto’s PATH system, offering shops, bars restaurants and other entertainment venues. Further afield are the stunning Niagara Falls and a full day tour can be offered if you wish to see this truly memorable site.
Day 11 includes breakfast on board the train
A final day to explore Toronto before a private car transfer will take you to the airport. An overnight flight back to the UK will have you home the following morning.
