Practical Info

  • Days 1 - 2
    UK to Zambia

Depart on an overnight flight from the UK to Mfuwe Airport. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Luwi Bushcamp. The drive consists of part transfer through the village, part game drive. Taking between two and three hours, this is a great introduction to the wildlife of the area.

    Meals included: Lunch and dinner

    Luwi Camp
  • Days 3 - 4

Deep in South Luangwa National Park, the camp is in a remote area with no other camps for miles. Around 400 species of birds and over 60 species of mammals appear in the park, with a large concentration centred around the Luangwa River – the most intact major river system in Africa. Game concentrations reach their height towards the end of the dry season in October, while migrant birds arrive towards the end of the rainy season in March. This camp is perfect for walking safaris and tracking game on foot, not to mention game drives and ventures upriver. When not on safari, head to the nearby lagoon – a permanent water source where you can watch the hippos unnoticed.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner

    Luwi Camp

Transfer from Luwi to Nsolo by foot or vehicle, arriving at Nsolo Bushcamp with an ice-cold drink waiting for you at the bar. After lunch, you have the option of either an afternoon walk followed by an evening game drive, or a full afternoon/ evening safari. Nsolo is one of the more historical luxury safari camps in Zambia, first sited in 1987 and a favourite ever since.

This area is great for sightings of wild dog as well as the more elusive caracal and serval. Lion prides roam the river bed and leave fresh tracks for you to explore the next day, whether by foot or vehicle, or a combination of both.

A perfect camp for just sitting and watching the wildlife pass by, with hundreds of crocodiles and hippos dominating the waters. As well as walking safaris and game drives, there is the option of boating in the green season. Nsolo Bushcamp

‘Sleep Under the Stars’

Kakuli Bushcamp

‘Spectacular River Views’

Kakuli Bushcamp sits in an elevated position on the river bank with remarkable views of the waters. Kakuli translates as ‘old buffalo bull’ in the local village, which was the nickname given to Norman Carr, the founder of the camp, by locals. This is the only one of the camps open during the ‘secret season’ between 20 Jan and 5 April, and you can travel the river on a boat.

Mchenja Bushcamp

‘Set Amid an Ebony Grove’
