The Best of Bali

There’s a magic in the air on the Indonesian tropical island of Bali. It permeates everything here with a very unique feeling of sheer calm and relaxation. This is a very special destination indeed. Brimming with a rich and vibrant culture, and blessed with a plethora of perfectly pristine beaches, Bali offers her visitors a superb luxury holiday experience.

WHERE: If it’s remote tropical jungle paradise you’re looking for, head to the rich cultural heartland of Ubud. Here, gaze in awe at the illuminous giant green steps of the ancient rice terraces, before exploring the local markets for some handmade crafts and homewares. Pack light, as we brought back all manner of gorgeous items! For some serious beachside luxury, visit the high-end resorts of Jimbaran, Nusa Dua or Seminyak. If it’s fashion, nightlife, boutiques and some of the Far East’s most chic dining destinations you’re after, seek solace in Seminyak and her array of stunning hotels. A short boat ride away, the neighbouring island of Lombok has much to offer, with its sacred Mount Rinjani volcano.

There are few places in the world with such a truly stunning range of luxury hotels as Bali. We have explored the island at length, and are proud to present to you our hand-picked selection of the very best that the island has to offer. These are some true architectural and style-led wonders, like exist nowhere else in Asia. Some are perched on clifftops, such as the stunning Alila Villas Uluwatu, and some are nestling in perfect harmony in lush green tropical valleys, such as COMO Shambhala Estate.

The neighbouring islands of Lombok and the more distant Gilis offer a perfectly relaxed counterbalance to a visit to Bali, and Destinology can arrange twin or multi-centre stays, at the region’s premier hotels.

WHEN: The perfect time for a visit to Bali or Lombok is from May to September, which is the region’s dry season. It is during these months when the sunshine and temperatures are bound to please, with dry warm days at around 28°C. However Bali is perfect and quieter at other times of the year too, but we’d recommend visiting before mid-October, when the seasonal rains begin, stretching through to around March time the next year. Even during the wet season however, Bali is a good destination, as the rains are often sporadic and heavy, during dry and sunny days.  We love the rainy season here at Destinology, because it’s during these months that the illuminous green lushness of the island really comes to life!

HOW: Either fly direct to Denpasar on Bali from the UK (normally via a South East Asian hub), or fly in via one of the regions carriers, such as Air Asia, or Singapore Airlines.

If you’ve not visited Bali before, prepare to obtain some true balance on a holiday here. Between the style, relaxation, and culture of the island and her neighbours, we know you’ll return rejuvenated by this unique and mystical place.
