‘Rustic Jungle Comfort, Boutique Retreat’
Charming villas and chalets grace the resort and are all positioned at the most breath-taking spots; from nestled high in the jungle, to sitting above picturesque lagoons. Comfort, space and luxury are abundant in each villa and chalet at JapaMala Resort, where rustic touches are also met by modern luxury and amenities. Wildlife and the surrounding nature can all be explored with ease whilst the sea offers regular sightings of dolphins, manta rays and even whale sharks. Continuing the theme of beautiful scenic locations - the Mandi Mandi restaurant is built on stilts hovering above the sea and positioned 100 metres away from the beach; creating a beautiful, romantic fine dining setting.
In Our Opinion
‘Villas and chalets boast rustic charm at this resort filled with idyllic spots and picturesque views’
Designed and built around the resort’s natural landscape, JapaMala prefer to call their rooms ‘sarangs’ as it means ‘nest’ in Malay.
As the name suggests these chalets appear to be sitting in a tree perched high above the luxuriant jungle canopy! They are only a short walk up from the beach and yet secluded amidst the lush vegetation, intertwined with the encircling nature and all of its chirping crickets, singing birds and rustling leaves as well as foraging creatures by night. This is a nature-lover’s paradise home built from natural materials and will appeal to those who will enjoy having the wild outside world all around them.
These highly positioned chalets are perched on the edge of either a mountain, cliff or hill and boast unparalleled views of the South China Sea - even from the shower room. Also situated directly above a picturesque turquoise lagoon, you are placed in a perfect spot to admire the surrounding nature.
Better described as a ‘nest’ this sarang is tucked away on the lower terrain of the resort amidst all the surrounding nature and exotic foliage. The rainforest features as the backdrop for the bathroom, which is also hidden away enough to allow total privacy.
Secluded, romantic and tranquil are a few words that spring to mind when thinking about a Seaview Sarang. This villa rests on low terrain amidst lush vegetation and spiralling trees and is perfect for a couple who want to feel secluded in nature on their getaway. The semi-outdoor lounge with conjoining dip pool is the perfect place to laze about all day and gaze out at the sea.
The main bedroom in Penghulu’s house, these rooms offer the luxury of a vast living space which opens out to a great view of the sea.
Nestled discreetly high on the hillside, spectacular views of the jungle can be seen upon opening any of the tall glass windows or stepping out onto the deck – where the relaxing plunge pool will meet you. Split level rooms offer the ground level as a family area which includes an additional TV.
Nestled between the jungle and beachfront; Penghulu’s House features rustic-stlye rooms which are complemented by tall glass windows, allowing an abundance of natural light to flow through and displaying a variety of colourful foliage. Designed to give a homely feel, the house has many little comfort zones for you to relax and daydream or simply soak up the sun. Those who stay in the main bedroom are treated to a vast amount of living space, whereas the ground floor room offers direct access to the private swimming pool.
