‘Grand Journeys of a Bygone Era’

Rovos Rail offers timeless elegance and a romantic way to experience the beauty of Southern Africa. Train journeys include itineraries from two days to fifteen days, linking some of the African continent’s greatest destinations with a variety of off-train excursions. Two day itineraries from Cape Town to Pretoria (also available in reverse) include stops in the historic village of Matjiesfontein, and a stop in Kimberley to visit the Diamond Mine Museum and the Big Hole. Longer journeys wind their way down the coast of South Africa (golfing and non-golfing itineraries are available), and to Victoria Falls, Namibia and Dar es Salaam include stops in game reserves and historic towns allowing time to savour the atmosphere of a time gone by.
Each train has one or two lounge cars, with big picture windows, comfortable sofas and serves afternoon tea. There is also an observation car with open-air balcony, bar, sofas and booths for mingling. Meals are served in the charming Victorian atmosphere of the dining cars and complimented by a selection of fine South African wines. Suites are spacious and elegant with each boasting an en-suite bathroom and sitting area.
