‘Treetop Suites; Wildlife Discovery’
Tanzania’s Lake Manyara National Park offers a true wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to the dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. You will explore the park on a morning game drive and then later on in the afternoon, observing wildlife such as the famous tree-climbing lion, Maasai giraffe and olive baboon as you go. The park is also a birdwatcher’s paradise containing over 400 species; the shores of the lake are filled with pink flamingo, which are best admired through the scenic bicycle trip, taking you past the nearby Mayoka community and on to the lakeshore. Night drives allow you to observe species that may not normally be seen in daylight. You can also visit traditional Maasai village homes, learn about their culture and try their delicacies. Dining at the lodge takes place in a traditional boma or open dining decks beneath the stars, with meals prepared right in front of you at the interactive kitchen. Ten treehouse suites are set amidst ancient mahogany trees and offer a peaceful retreat at the end of the day.
In Our Opinion‘The only permanent lodge in the park’s south-western region, here you can explore undisturbed areas with a diverse range of wildlife.’
Situated amidst ancient mahogany trees, suites are crafted from local timber and makuti palm fronds, offering a private retreat within leafy surroundings. Private decks sit above the forest floor and large windows allow an influx of cool air. Contemporary bedrooms feature overhead fans and mosquito nets. The bathrooms feature a freestanding tub and outdoor shower with views of the forest.
Guests can take part in morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, bicycle trips and Maasai village visits.
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only permanent lodge set in the remote southern region of the reserve, meaning that game drives go through areas of the park not reached by day visitors and allow for more un-interrupted game viewing. Morning and afternoon drives are carried out in 4x4 safari vehicles and the guide will help you explore diverse habitats at the park, stopping at the lake shore to view the different bird species including pink flamingo.
