Wine Tasting in Eger

Hungary is home to a variety of wine regions, but the most historic is the area around Eger. Here you can sample the signature red blend, Egri Bikáver – otherwise known as “Bull’s Blood”. Venture out of the city centre to “The Valley of the Beautiful Women” and you can explore atmospheric wine cellars, while sampling the local specialities.

A trip to Hungary wouldn’t be complete without visiting the traditional bathhouses. In Budapest, the most famous thermal bath is Széchenyi, best known for its large outdoor swimming pools. The hot spring water contains a number of minerals and is thought to have significant healing benefits. Relax in the warm waters here after a long day of exploring.

Head to Balatonlelle to laze by the lake on a stretch of sandy beach, and enjoy the waterfront swimming pools and slides. Other attractions here include the beautiful Festetics Palace, the medieval Tihany Abbey, and the ruined Szigliget Castle.
