Nepal things to do

Nepal

Swayambhunath Stupa

Also known as the Monkey Temple, Swayambhunath Stupa rests on a hill just west of Kathmandu. Prayer wheels circle the hill and pagodas and shrines circle the golden stupa. As its other name suggests, the site is also home to lots of monkeys that live in the northwest section of the temple. Enjoy animal interactions and breathtaking panoramic views.

Nepal

Boudhanath Stupa

Also known as the Great Stupa, Boudha and Jharung Khashor, the Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest in the world and one of the oldest in Nepal. The golden spire and great white dome of Boudha dominate the Kathmandu skyline and will draw your eye, not an easy feat considering the backdrop. Unsurprisingly, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Nepal

Hike the Himalayas

Home to the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, you'll get to enjoy some of the best hikes in the world in Nepal. There are options available for all fitness levels: from the heights of Everest Base Camp to low altitude treks around Pokhara. Enjoy expert guided tours and wander Sherpa villages, fertile valleys and lofty peaks offering unbelievable views.

Nepal

Chitwan National Park

One of Nepal's big draws, Chitwan National Park is a sprawling protected area with over 700 species of animals and birds. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best parks to view wild animals in Asia. Spot elephants, leopards, monkeys, rhinos and sloth bears. If you're lucky you may even spy a Bengal tiger.

Nepal

Phewa Lake

Near the city of Pokhara, Phewa Lake is the second largest lake in Nepal. A two-tiered pagoda known as Tal Barahi Temple rests on an island in the centre of the reflective water, which mirrors the snowy mountain peaks that overlook the lake. Go fishing, swimming or even sailing and soak up the glorious surroundings.
