Phu Quoc things to do

Phu Quoc

Hon Xuong Island

As one of the Phu Quoc district's most spectacular remote islands, Hon Xuong is a must if you're looking to island-hop. Locals refer to the isle as the Robinson Crusoe island, after the novel, because it is so breathtakingly beautiful. Wander along its pristine shores, and admire the protected waters.

Phu Quoc

Hon Thom

Hon Thom, also known as Pineapple Island, is the district's second largest island. It is joined to Phu Quoc Island by what is considered the world's longest overseas cable car, travelling across nearly 5 miles in 8.5 seconds. There's a marine park here, and various watersports to choose from such as snorkelling, diving and yacht tours.

Phu Quoc

Sao Beach

For beach lovers, this flawless hotspot should be a bucket list item. Take a walk along the white sand and soak up the sun at your leisure. The curve of the beach is framed by a crystal-clear sea, which is always warm and inviting. There are also watersports available here, and a couple of beachfront restaurants to choose from.

Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc Prison Museum

A visit to this prison museum provides an insight into the island's complex past. The prison is no longer used, but back in 1973 it was the largest prison camp in the south of Vietnam. The prison is now a museum and a touching memorial, with replicated prison quarters and mannequins depicting the prisoners' life and history.

Phu Quoc

Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve

Close to 50 per cent of Phu Quoc Island is protected as a national park, and recognised as part of the Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve. This reserve actively works on maintaining and conserving its tropical rainforests, which are home to waterfalls, coral reefs and wetlands. Kien Giang is also part of UNESCO’s MAB (Man and the Biosphere) programme.
