For over 50 years, the New England Aquarium has been Boston's premium attraction and research facility. People of all ages will love meeting the thousands of animals that call this place home. Get up close and personal with penguins, leafy sea dragons, green sea turtles, and giant octopuses. You can even go behind the scenes to meet harbour seals.
Towering over 6000 feet above sea-level, Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern USA. It’s a four mile hike to the top, but you will be rewarded with a spectacular panoramic outlook. If you’re not up for a hike, you can take an old fashioned cog-train. Once there, visit the observation tower to learn about the mountain’s ecosystem.
Just south of Cape Cod, lies the island of Martha’s Vineyard. You’ll have to take a boat or plane to get there, but the views on the way make it worth it. Stretching across 47,000 acres, Acadia National Park is an outdoor wonderland. Climb glacier-scoured granite peaks like Cadillac Mountain, explore the quaint village of Bar Harbor, or camp under the stars. You can come face-to-face with deer, moose, and maybe even black bears. Acadia National Park offers a true slice of New England wilderness.
Step back in time and learn about Boston’s role in American history on the Freedom Trail. This self-guided 2.5-mile route will take you to 16 historically significant sites including meeting houses, museums, churches, and burying grounds. Visit the site of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere’s house, and Bunker Hill Monument. You’ll come away with a new appreciation of America’s history.
