These tall karst outcrops are brilliant for rock climbing, and you can get close to the peaks in either a kayak or a row boat.

If you want to find out more about the fishing here and the life of locals, you can head out in a kayak to a fishing village, or a floating village such as Vung Vieng, and revel in the welcoming atmosphere, and the exceptional surrounds. An excursion to this part of the bay offers a fascinating insight into traditional life here, and will live in your memory long after you've left.

When To Visit

November is one of the best times of the year to visit Halong Bay, thanks to the endless blue skies, pleasant climate, and quiet seas. June to August sees the days swing between 22-26°C, with some chance of rain, but these are short-lived, and this season remains one of the most popular times of year to visit.

February to April usually sees the arrival of the green season, with fog which can reduce visibility. This does make for an ethereal atmosphere though, and no doubt some dramatic photos!

Food & Drink

Excite your palate with Vietnamese fusion cuisine, served to create a memorable fine-dining experience. Restaurants and cruise ships include a strong international offering, with favourites from Italian, French, and Mediterranean cuisine frequently available.

If you are looking for a unique experience, then don't miss the chance to sit down to a candlelit dinner in one of Halong Bay's caves. The food is vibrant and fresh in this region, and as you'd expect, there are incredible seafood options.
