Overview

The city of Perth is where cosmopolitan comfort meets the remarkable Australian landscape. With lots of pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters, this city is a haven for those who love to sunbathe, snorkel and dive. A luxury holiday in Perth will also give you a chance to explore the city's landmarks, as well as the nation's unique Outback attractions.

The capital of Western Australia, Perth, is nestled in some pretty spectacular surroundings. City skyscrapers reflect the deep-blue waters of the Swan River and the emerald palms of Kings Park, whilst white sand beaches line the coast, and rolling vineyards unfold on its fringes. But Perth isn't just good looking, it has a personality too, and you'll find that this city is a centre for arts and culture, with lots of important galleries and museums to explore, many of which highlight the achievements of Australia's indigenous people.

Visit the Fremantle Markets and browse the local produce and crafts, and then dine along Hillarys Boat Harbour. For a taste of the wild, head outside the city to famous national parks like Yanchep, Serpentine and Nambung, where you can see the Pinnacles spiral out of the sand dunes, and enjoy walks through the wildlife-strewn bushland. Explore the iconic natural landmarks of Perth, like the unusual wave-shaped rock, aptly named Wave Rock, or relax along the city's fine coastline.

You'll find some truly breathtaking shores in Perth, like the white sands of Cottesloe Beach, where bohemian and hip cafes cluster along the seaside. Watch sunsets at City Beach, go surfing at Trigg Beach, or unwind on Rottnest Island, a magical place where you can snorkel, and meet cute quokkas.

When To Visit

Perth has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers and cool winters. You'll be greeted with perfect beach weather in the summer where temperatures range from 20 to 30 degrees celsius. Autumn also has great weather in the mid-20s with cooler nights. Spring days are warm with highs of 23 degrees celsius and little rain, and this season promises blossoming wildflowers.

Winters are cooler with occasional thunderstorms that prepare the land for flowering. If you're lucky enough, a storm over Perth is a true spectacle.

Food & Drink

Fine dining is on the menu in Perth as this city has a reputation for its culinary prowess thanks to its fresh seafood grills, mouth-watering steaks and locally produced wines. You'll find lots of international options too, like world-class Italian restaurants, classic French cuisine, and authentic Chinese dishes.

Also, be sure to visit one of the world's most recognised Japanese restaurants, Nobu Perth. The brainchild of actor Robert De Niro and masterchef Nobu Matsuhisa, Nobu Perth blends traditional Japanese dishes with South American flavours.

You should carry some identification with you at all times and it's a good idea to keep a photocopy of your passport. All visitors to Perth need a visa and must apply for one before travelling. Visit GOV.UK for more advice on passports, visas and travel.
